YOU MAKE THE CALL - ?

All great answers!! I can remember the advice my father-in-law told me about hunting quail. "Do you know how to get a double on quail? Kill the first one!" Kind of reminds me to focus on the one before the second.

I think I would go for the duiker

As stated above, what a problem to have. But it would be the Red Duiker for me.

I'd take the red duiker!(y) Don't get me wrong, I never let any nice bushbuck walk:sneaky:, but I don't have a nice red duiker, they are very special (something you don't see everyday);).

I mean no offense to bushbuck, as they are one of my favorite species to hunt in the whole world.
But definitely I am +1 with so many others here for taking the red duiker.
For me personally it is because there is just something extra special and very fascinating about the various tiny antelopes.

Quite simple really. Kick your client in the shin and take his rifle. I don't have a 3" Red Duiker or a 16" Bushbuck yet.;)

Just added another item to my packing list.
Shin guards!

Isn't that why PH's carry doubles????

Red Duiker! If that was the initial target species then get it in the bag. Next time a client books and says "Iam looking for Bushbuck?" You can proudly say "I have just the one for you!"(y)

Thanks for all the input guys, some very interesting answers that came out.
Well most of you probably wonder what actually happened then.

Jeff kept on telling me to look at the Bushbuck one more time, figuring I would say he should shoot the Bushbuck and leave the Red Duiker. I was more focused on the Duiker. The Duiker finally gave us a shot after running up and down like a "Rat on Acid" as Jeff put it.

Well things did not work out for us, Jeff squeezed the trigger and then off ran the Duiker.
Long story short; the gun somehow went off, shooting 6" left, missing the Duiker by a mile.

Somehow, I knew the moral of this post would be neither was killed and both are alive and well:cool:

Maybe if we had tried the Bushbuck we would have had something that day, the Bushbuck at one stage was about 30 yards from us and at 30 yards it would have been a much bigger target, or we might have had a wounded Bushbuck.

We will never know

Thanks for the post, I enjoyed it a lot.(y)

wow that is difficult .....would have to be able to communicate all the pros and cons of each specie ( find another, chances of a great bush buck, finding red duiker)
But i would definitely push for the bushbuck as to shoot a great bush buck is difficult anywhere.
And that looks like a cracker....

Shot Shot

SHOOT EM BOTH!!!!
Hahahaha! I have to agree with Royal on this one. Go for the duiker and hope the bushbuck sticks around long enough......wondering what the hell just happened to the little guy to then get a shot on him. And this is why I need to practice getting back into my gun faster. You never know when golden moments like this will arise. Thanks for the post. Think it got my adrenaline going faster than my morning coffee. LOL!

If shooting a nice 9.3 double? bushbuck first, red duiker second, if bolt gun red duiker. No matter what client wins job well done.

Ultimately, if time allows ask the client. Otherwise shoot the duiker, a respectable bushbuck is in the salt and 3" duiker aren't behind every rock.

I'd go for the Duiker exptional only comes around so often.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
