I have seen several threads mentioning the rifle being available. I was not able to handle one in person so purchased one from GunBroker with a Ray Charles appraisal.
I am posting pics of the furniture and some wood/metal fit in case anyone else is considering a purchase. The checkering is obviously laser cut but functional. The bolt seems SMOOTH, but, I will not know till glass and ammo arrive then field test. Over 100 Fahrenheit in Okla so will wait for cooler weather also. Rough numbers 1850 tax and delivered to OKC.
Some figure right side and on the pancake left, I know this isn’t grade 7 or higher walnut but everyone wants the best wood they can get.
Your thoughts are appreciated in advance good or bad. I will top with Swarovski z6i 1.7-10x42 4a-1 with Talley QD that are shipping from Mark at R&M firearms. Outstanding deal and sponsor here.
He was able to do scope rings mount shipping and tax for what the big boys want for just glass.
Hope this helps someone here, I can not express how much everyone here has helped me with 2 trips over and needless to say hunt 3 is coming. Everyone needs a 375 for a buffalo hunt, notice need.

One curious thing, sticker on box says made in USA and assembled in Portugal. Barrel stamped made in Portugal. I am a fan of FN due to my experiences with Browning shotguns.

Any advice would be appreciated as to ammo. Don’t reload so will be off the shelf, any experience on what yours “likes.”

In factory ammo my Safari Express .375 H&H likes the Federal Premium Safari 300 grain Swift A-Frame at a nominal MV of 2,450 fps.

Come to think of it, I've yet to come across any factory ammo it doesn't like...

I reload Barnes 300 gr TSX for my 375 H&H and just took a Buffalo and Crocodile 10 days ago.
You can buy the Barnes Vor-Tex factory ammunition in 300 gr and that is what I would recommend.

Mine likes Swift AFrames and Barnes TSX equally well. Woodleigh Hydro solids shot to the same POI as the other 2 for mine.

Thank you

Mine likes PPU. The ugly stuff with the weird looking round nose. That's the only factory it's ever had.

And you'll want to avoid letting the baseplate fly open or open all the way. It will ding the stock on the bottom. You're welcome.

My local shop has Barnes 375 H&H 300 gr TSX at $99 per box. A perfect ready to go round for buffalo.

I load my own.. but prior to loading for 375 H&H, the Barnes Vor-TX factory 300gr TSX was my go-to load. Very accurate in my Winchester 70.. fed perfectly.. reasonably priced compared to other premium options, etc..etc..

I also put a good bit of 260gr Nosler Custom factory ammo through mine early on as well.. for PG, the 260gr partitions performed extremely well for me on waterbuck, impala, and a few other animals I hunted with them..

Check that the crossbolts are tight. Do this by trying to slide them back and forth. I had one that was loose. I removed both and reinstalled with blue loctite.

Oooh yeah. What this guy said. Mine were loose too. Of course I undid everything and blue loctited it. It was a while ago.

My plan is to buy what ever ammo is less expensive (read: cheapest) to get rounds down the tube and learn to shoot a big bore. My first. Does this sound like a sensible plan? Once I am comfortable, I can decide what I want to hunt with and confirm it shoots well from this rifle. I do reload, but haven't gathered any 375 goodies.... yet. Thanks for all info

The rifle in question shoots very controllably if one is accustomed to the twelve gauge shotgun in anything other than a self loader. The fun things you're going to experience are the longer bolt stroke and a generally nice open sight picture. For me after coming off the TC Encore and then the Ruger No.1 in this caliber, I was standing there with an empty gun wondering what had just happened. The spent shells were across the yard from me and the target was well perforated. I had only recollection of sight pictures jarred by the recoil and a feeling of being alive. I wish that the gun held a few more rounds in the magazine and had a lighter trigger. Big bellied like a .505, but with the smaller, sleeker round.
H4350, StaBall 6.5, W760
300 grain bullets Accubonds, A Frames, Partitions, Bearclaws, Game Kings whatever you can find and it will shoot. Mine are not fussy.

Sounds good . . . well, other than referencing a .375 as a big bore. :-).

Barnes 300 grain TSX. My last PH strongly encouraged me to bring them . I shoot a 300 win mag here in Mt and recoil was a lot more. I shot 5-10 rounds at a time for practice. After 2-3 boxes recoil seemed much more reasonable.
This is same advice I got on this forum a couple years back. Have a great hunt!

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
