What did you get yourself for Christmas?

Bought a new “Tip Up” motion decoy. Now if I can just get a chance to use it before seasons end . . .

That thing is sexy. However, I'd feel safer sandpapering a wildcats ass in a phone booth than riding that. I need four walls of metal between me and rapidly moving asphalt. Be safe, Brother!

Sadly, i cant afford regular DG hunts. So i settle for riding extremely fast motorcycles. I've found the experience of travelling over 150mph (240kph) while hanging on to a wheeled missile to be an intriguing experience.

Picked up a Chapuis 450/400 from a member here. Very excited about it!
I am soooooo glad you did…. That rifle was tempting me to empty the checking account… I desperately needed someone to jump on that grenade for me quick! :)

Need someone to teach me how to post pictures. The 2000 is pretty much a Colt Sauer with Swedish input. Beautiful rifle and magazine fed

McBride’s Guns in central Austin, the gun shop I grew up in, recently sold and will change ownership in February. Sad days for me… Many hours I’ve spent in that shop and around the McBride family.

I drove down this morning with a card and some treats for Joe and see if I could find a fitting gun to make as my last purchase before the new owners take over. Came home with a used Taylor’s Uberti Winchester Model ‘66 in .38 Special, with scabbard. Should be a ton of fun to shoot.

What have y’all gotten yourselves for Christmas?

I was busy with a wedding last time I was in Austin and didn’t get by McBrides; many of my guns came from there including my .470ne.

For Christmas I put a deposit down on a Zim buff hunt for 2027 and I’ll be taking that .470 with me.

Joe McBride had several pics of me from hunts that I sent him with guns I bought from him.

Funny, I was able to go the first seven months of 2025 without buying a gun; but then picked up 10 over the last five months (plus three Leupold scopes). The good news is that I only spent a total of about $3,500, or an average of 350 per gun; every one of which was purchased well below market. The most recent two would be my Christmas gifts to myself:

1. 1957 Steyr Mannlicher Schoenauer 1950 in 30-06.

2. 1960 Smith and Wesson Model 17 in 22LR.

That, plus a new deer feeder (hat tip to @mdwest for the recommendation).

Just moving to DM. Yes, please ask your friend if he knows somebody who might be willing to support a persistent hunt in the snow.

This is Daniel from Mankazana Safaris.

I saw your post regarding a hunt in Africa. I am sure you have been bombarded with messages and replies from other outfitters, so I will keep this one quick.
