What are you reading?

One of my favorites. I've listened the audio book 3 times already. You can buy it on Spotify or it is free on YouTube. It is a great read/listen.

The YouTube version is likely a pirated copy that has not yet been caught by the publisher. Please do not listen to these copies. Please buy from a legitimate source. Copyright holders get $0 from these pirate copies.

Yes the vocabulary used is extensive but it’s a beautifully written book. There is a german version by Hans wolf though I wonder how much would be lost in translation.
I'll stick to English that is better than my German:cool:

Didn't know, I bought it on Spotify because I hate the interruptions due to advertising on YouTube.

Judge Holden is such an interesting character. If you like blood meridian(my favorite from McCarthy) Look up Samuel chamberlains book “my confessions: recollections of a rogue”. Chamberlain allegedly rode with John glanton and his book is where Glantons second in command judge Holden comes from. Scary man… even scarier to know that men gifted like the judge have and do actually exist.
Funny story: I did a course through work about staying mentally and physically healthy despite all the challenges. One of the things they said is that reading a novel simply for enjoyment (instead of only work-related reading) was a healthy thing to do. At that time I’d fallen out of my reading habit for far too long, and didn’t like my chances of accessing books or finding the time. But I learned about audiobooks books and chose Blood Meridian for my very first one. My work involved some pretty hectic, disturbing, scary things, so listening to Blood Meridian at first seemed like a bad choice but it grew on me and was indeed a good distraction that helped me detour into Western history which was really interesting and enjoyable, especially comparing it to Australian history.

The interesting thing about McCarthy’s character (Judge Holden) is that he purposely decided that the ambiguous background of him (The Judge) is supposed to be the real story. The characters depravity is so unsettling that the only thing more unsettling is that the only conclusion the readers can come to about the true nature and identity of The Judge. That is; he is a supernatural being and evil is not only real but tangible as well.

Anime Slayer APK is honestly one of the best anime apps I’ve ever used. It’s packed with a massive collection of both popular and underrated titles, and everything streams smoothly without interruptions. I appreciate how well it runs even on mid-range Android devices.
