Trijicon Question

I have never owned a Trijicon Scope, so I am needing some advice from some that have them.
Looking at a 1-6x24 to put on 416 Rigby but they use ambient light to illuminate. So, question is if sitting in Leopard blind at pitch dark will you still be able to, see? Yes, they do make them that have battery power, but question is if the non-battery one's work? TIA

I have one on a 375 H&H, and one of the Kudus I shot last year was at last light (not completely dark but getting there quick) and I was still able to see the green dot. The scope is very clear, and the above kudu was my longest shot ever taken on an animal. Great scope for the money.

'Have on on my .416. Fantastic. It has both a fiber optic and iridium lighting system (LED/battery is available, but why?) The fiber optic is adjustable (typ. daytime) but the iridium keeps it lit at all times. You'll have no issue seeing it. I went to EuroOptic and tested out a bunch of (more expensive) scopes and settled on this one. You could do the same, but in Fall when it gets dark earlier (literally test it out.) GL Enjoy. 'First tested out the gun with my Son's 1.75-6 Leupold and the Trijicon shot just as well. Although this powder shoots most accurately, I selected Varget as it produces another 100 fps and <1" groups with solids and softs (the solids print 1" higher but that's good if you had to take a long follow-up.)

'mounted a tad high to clear the NECG iron sights. Just leave the fiber optic adj wide open unless it's too bright in direct sunlight.

Ok, everyone has already given you the answer, but I'll pile on...

Yes. The way the scope works is it amplifies ambient light, but there is also tritium in the scope, so if no ambient light is available, the tritium provides it. I've used it in an ACOG, and I currently own a 2.5-10X54, which I used for Schwarzwild hunting in Germany. It flat out works. I recommend the green over the red.

If buying from the large online retailer that begins with an E has a B an A and a Y. Be careful. There are A lot of Chinese knockoffs online. If not buying from a reputable online dealer, call Trijicon with the serial number to authenticate it. There are some obvious letters and numbers that are left off the fake ones. Apparently the RMR‘s and SRO‘s are even more likely to be fake if bought from a non-authorized dealer or used.

I have the 1-6 accupoint on my 458 and have loved it so far. It has replaced the RMR that was originally on that rifle. I have yet to use it for any hunting, but I can take it out later today and get some info for you in low light

I have Trijicon Accupoint on quite a few of my hunting and work weapons, 1x6 on my 375, 1x4 on my 458, I have 1x4’s on five of my work rifles, I have 3x18 and 3x9 on several of my hunting rifles as well as MRO’s and RMR’s on shotguns and both of my doubles 9.3x74r and 450/400. I shoot non-illuminated no problems.

I have a 1-6x on my 9.3x62 and a 2.5–12.5 on a 7mm-08. As others have stated, opening the fiber optic aperture gives bright illumination even under a covered shooting position. In total darkness, the tritium cell illuminates the fiber optics enough to see the dot.
Optically, IMO, it is between a Leupold VX-lll and a VX-V, but closer to the V.
The 1-6x sounds like a perfect fit for your .416. I’m thinking about switching out the scopes on my .416 Ruger and .458 Lott with that scope as well.

Buy the non-battery Trijicon AccuPoint 1-6x24. Put it on your .416. Use it for buffalo, plains game, and leopard during legal light. For the rare chance you need to shoot a leopard in true darkness? Don’t. Wait for light. Or bring a separate red-dot with NV (but that’s a different conversation).
