I assume that I will need to complete the SAPS permit since I will be flying into Joberg and then flying out the next morning to my final destination in Namibia with accompaning rifles, Will not be hunting in SA just passing thru, with an overnite in Joberg.

Yes. You will have to "enter" the RSA and "exit" with firearms - even if you were on the same airline. You might want to use a "meet and greet" service. A couple of the hunter oriented guest houses even offer it. In October I am headed over for the fifth time and will still use a service. If nothing else, it cuts way back on the harassment for "tips" and bribes.

AfricaSky will do your rifle permits, meet you at the airport to clear customs, transport you to the hotel and feed you a steak dinner. The next morning they feed you breakfast, transport back to the airport and get you checked in for the next flight.
Well worth the money!!

Just used @riflepermits.com for the Meet and Greet service at $120. But I am not using a hotel and coming back the next day for a flight to another country. The AfricaSky service mentioned above is probably a better deal since you will need a hotel and return to the airport the next day.

Which hotel are you staying at?

We used http://riflepermits.com/ and stayed at the Afton House. Top notch service all the way around. I'll be doing the same on my next trip assuming I get the opportunity to return.

I used Africa Sky for permit, overnight and gun storage. No real complaints. Everything is set up for the hunter and you will see other hunters there. That said, next time it's a permit service, and overnight at either Intercontinental or city lodge. It's just easier, plus you can get the train right from the airport and not have to shuttle to the train station

Yes you will, use Rifle permits, a sponsor on this site

Africa Sky is the best I have used for permits, lodging, meals and overall service. It is a fantastic place.

I had a client stay in November at Afton house, I was shocked at the service and cleanliness of the place.

@riflepermits.com would be the best way to go.

Thank you all for your replies. I have stayed at Afton house the last two trips and have already reserved rooms for this year. They are fantastic from the rifle permits and the service provided is excellent.

Loading and help with luggage to to the Afton house...fantastic. Hustle, hustle they are there to move you along...thank you. Rooms are great, clean tidy, and the breakfast is a served to order.. Load up to to your flight at any time of the morning, and Mr. X is their to help, when you are coming back from your destination. Mr. X is their for you. What more do you want.......WILL ONLY CONSIDER Afton house.

I have used Afton the past two times hunting in SA. Their service is exceptional, and seeing Mr. X, is a comfort and relief. Will be seeing him again Lord willing, in a couple months. Kevin

hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
