After experiencing two buffalo hunts, it's hard to imagine a safari that doesn't include one. Call it "buffalo and ____ safari" because that's what it's turning into for me.

Buffalo addiction ?

In Spain we have a gentleman who has hunted over a hundred buffaloes.

I have the figure from his Customs Agent, as the hunter is a very discreet person, although well known is business circles, he gives wide berth to news media.

He is also known to have shot great Roebucks in his own property.

"Hunting Capebuffalo may cause a life long addiction"!

I often say if a person wants to take up an addiction, try heroin or cocaine instead. It won’t grip you as tightly or cost as much as dangerous game hunting.

The only cure for buffalo hunting is buffalo hunting. I was hunting buffalo every year for a while. Thankfully, for the sake of my bank account, I’m not as mad at them as I once was.

after taking my first buffalo, I told my wife that I did what I had always wanted to do. Then the next year I did it again, she said remember if you get killed by a buffalo your body stays in Africa but I want your rifle to sell it. Well wheels up in 74 days, the saga continues. It's not just that Buffalo hunting is addictive. It also comes with a second horrible Bank account draining addiction! Soon you find yourself craving very expensive rifles to pursue that addiction!

Just got back from my second Safari -- first buff -- and other good stuff. I had already booked 2027 before I went on this one -- the NIGHTMARE of the travel over almost ruined it , but I marched on and Got him. one shot.

Yes denial of sorts & a bottle of whiskey from my mate that got me over the line lol ,
Well after we drank it it had me agreeing to a reconnaissance mission with him to find a suitable PH & area for another mate that for poor words was still somewhat like old Africa for this years hunt that will be for the mate who has wanted too hunt Africa since he was 14 then & is 61 now & the whiskey organiser is accompanying us also on this trip
So yes I’m in denial most likely again even after this trip & one this forum is definitely not helping as a couple of things have sprooked my interest that the whiskey organiser & I have talked about that may or maynot happen but rest assured my missed meetings seem to be a regular occurrence these days

So open to suggestions on what form of medication is needed to get me over the line after this trip of course

I’m thinking rhino might be the best start & see how that goes but buffalo does interest me a lot a real lot ( any bovine species as those guys give me the best feeling well until @Mtn_Infantry mentioned elephant addiction hmmm tick tick on those I am ) although most likely my next African bovine will not be the cape ( put one in front of me & especially a scum cap & watch my addiction take hold ) I’m thinking more on the lines of those ones up in Cameroon or like as those surely should fix the bovine addiction I have ??? Time will tell
