Does anyone have any experience with a Steyr Scout rifle in their .376 Steyr? Handling? Accuracy? Recoil?

I have one, recoil is snappy but manageable. My only real compliant is the spare mag in the rear of the stock sometimes ejects its self under recoil. I carry it in mountain hunts where I might bump a grizzly. With factory ammunition ( Hornady) I get 1.5 ~2 MOA if I do my part.
Let me know if you need any more information
regards
Pat

I have zero experience with them, but I have seen some for sale for pennies on the dollar. I have a few Steyr Manlichers and they are all tack drivers

I almost bought one last year. Ended up getting a Sako 85 in 338wm instead due to the limited ammo options with the Steyer. There is a recall on the polymer stock as the rubberized coating deteriorates and becomes sticky to the touch. Steyer will replace it but all of the replacements are black. Europeans seem to struggle with plastic production and this is one of the examples. Steyer makes a very good rifle and I have some experience with their 308 SST. We would shoot it at 500 and 1000 meters with very impressive results. I like the rifle a lot but it comes with its own set of issues to deal with.

I have several scouts, and many other Steyrs (mannlicher ,professionals and SSGs). But the Scouts are not target rifles, and in my experience can be challenging to get to shoot well with out doing some load development or ammunition testing. Simply put they can be fussy; other Steyr models are way more forgiving and accurate. The scout strength is handling, compactness, reliability, quality and most of all weight.
My 2 cents

I have an original Steyr Scout from the Colonel's day in .308. It is a fine little carbine for which I have never found a real purpose. I do believe it would be superb on driven bore in Europe. I purchased a full size .376 Steyr rifle for my son a number of years ago, and he has used it with great success on a couple of bear in British Columbia. I have never handled the two together in a Scout, but would suspect the recoil would catch one's attention.
