Congratulations @flyfishdoc ! There seems to be something in the air, with everyone buying double rifles recently! :D

And it looks like factory Recknagel mounts. Lovely rifle. I bet it shoots.

Congrats and welcome to the double rifle club

Is that an over/under double in 450/400? very unusual! and I don't think I have seen any double rifle with a schnabel fore end.
It's beautiful. Enjoy.

Like your rifle, wish mine had the factory Recknagel mounts. It is one of the most accurate double I have ever shot. When you get to the point of needing reloading data send me a PM and I will share what I have developed for mine to give you a starting point.

Hi @fjyfishdoc, what is the weight of your Verney?

An awesome looking rifle. Great chambering. Congratulations.

@flyfishdoc Have you found ammo for that beautiful piece yet?

Beautiful rifle! Congratulations.

I opened this thread thinking I was going to drool over another rifle with the barrels sideways but, lo and behold, yours are correctly arranged. ;-)

I have a Zoli O/U double rifle with a schnabel fore end.

Congratulations @flyfishdoc. Perhaps you should change your handle from Flyfishdoc to DRdoc as in double rifle doc!! ;)

I am quite sure you will enjoy it. If you need a reloading data for 450/400 PM me.

Regards,

yhc

I have plenty of factory ammo if you are in Alaska. Brass, too, that I can ship out of state but ammo is too expensive to ship out.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
