Show Us Your Hunting Knife

4 of my favorite knives. Some will recognise the top knife. “The Dugga Boy Club” knife. A gift from Wik Coetzee of @GAME 4 AFRICA SAFARIS. A knife that holds fantastic memories for me.
Second is by a Croatian knife maker trading as Pine Marten knives.
The last two are my most used knives and have been for years. Both are Schrade. The second, cheap as chips, was made in Kerry, Ireland when Schrade had a plant here. Both hold an excellent edge.View attachment 690337
The 2nd Pine Marten Knives model is a nice pattern.

My son made this knife for me several years ago and I have carried it on nearly every hunt since. He started his own knife business at age 15 - Whirl Creek Knives. I have bashed the heck out of this knife for many years, and it is hands down the toughest blade I own. Still makes a handful of "bushcraft" style knives every year for friends and family, but he found out that adult life gets busy, and time in the knife shop becomes harder to find. Thanks Nate! I will cherish this blade for ever.

My newest arrived today from NZ.
2 PH EDC knives.
One is my sons. I sent a large rusty file to my friend that my son found by a fallen down cabin where we hunt regularly. It was cleaned up turned into a beautiful knife. Tasmanian Blackwood handles. Engraved with his name on one side and homestead file on the other.

Mine is carbon damascus with mammoth ivory handles. My name engraved on one side also.
Letter V stamped on both sheaths for our last name.

Ive gotten into the habit of picking up a new hunting knife whenever I do an international hunt lately.. back in April I was in New Zealand, so I thought it would be cool to add a New Zealand hunting knife from Gary (board member) to the collection.. We just returned to the US from South Africa on Sunday.. on our way out of the country we stopped by Safari Outdoors in Pretoria and I picked up a really nice blade made by PS Roodt.. the scales are giraffe bone..

Im not a great fan of the sheath.. I'll probably make a replacement for it myself.. but the blade is exceptionally well executed.. there is a distal taper in the tang that took a good bit of craftsmanship to execute, and the fit and finish on the knife is extremely well done... I think it will be a medium to small game skinning and processing stud..

I also picked up a #7 Opinel folder when I was in Rustenberg checking out an Outdoors shop.. I figured for $15 I couldnt go wrong.. It will make a good glove box knife just to keep in the Ranger side by side for whenever a knife is needed..

That Opinel will quickly become a favorite.

@mdwest
Don't underestimate that cheap arse Opinel. They are an excellent blade made of high carbon steel that takes and holds a scalpel sharp edge. The blade locking system is simple and they are a brilliant knife. They have been made by the French for over 100 years.
I've been using one for a very long time.

Ive never seen the fork-spoon option before.. thats very cool! I might have to look into that... a nice, light, packable, camp fork/spoon/knife combo would be handy..

My best friend picked it up for me while he was in New Zealand for a red stag and tahr hunt.

here is a combo I use daily (esp in the Middle East where most local eateries dont usually provide cutlery) It also solves the issue of being able to use a knife and fork similtaneously

"Knife and fork' not "knife or fork" ;)
It is a knife and fork so I see you point. However, you can only use one at a time, so it could be seen as "or" as well.

Not as good as CRF vs PF, but still valid. LOL.

That knife is probably getting more use than many knives.

I am guilty of owning more knives than I use.

Nothing wrong with having more knives than you use @CBH.
I have had this particular knife over 20 years. Like I said I use it daily, mostly for food prep and eating but it has done a lot of game - especially Rabbits but also birds as well. It has an Oak handle which was a special edition apparently when I first bought it, lol.
My Son got me a new No. 8 for Christmas this year with some Deer etched on the handle. I compared the two. Either the blade shape has changed or the Oak handled one has had a lot of sharpening (I only ever use a whetstone and or strop) I think it is the latter. A great friend is that knife.

My only other user Opinel is a No10 Effilé . Also used a lot on birds and rabbits but mostly fish.
(Olivewood handle) Another old friend.

(This is an old picture. The etching on the Effilé has now completely disappeared , as has "Opinel" on the No.8 handle , see picture above post#735) :)

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc
