I own several Mora knives and believe them to be the best economical knives on the market. They sharpen up to a shaving edge and are shaped for any number of jobs and uses.

100%…

The blank blades are available. I made my own out of a branch from an Algarita bush. The wood is bright yellow.

I have an addiction…and it’s becoming a problem. I ordered a MKC Sharptailed and then (two days later) saw the MKC Freezout. They are very similar with the only appreciable difference being the shape of the blade and angle of the handle.

My wife is most certainly going to flip her lid when she finds out, so I’m planning on sending one of these back as a concession. The only possible exception would be that she wants the one that I don’t.

Help me decide which one to keep.

I like both but I’d definitely keep the freezout. Drop point blades are exceptionally versatile.

@8 x 60 - That's a unique folding Civivi with a hinged handle to cover the blade when closed. Is that a rigid, semi-rigid or full-flex blade?

Recently been using this Civivi for fish . Very pleased with it . View attachment 763565
But the trusty Mora Companion Stainless does fine for fish too;

What steel is the Civivi? There might be one of those in my future. If I had a dollar for every fish I have filleted, I could easily pay airfare to anywhere in Africa, lol. I value a good filet knife over a good hunting knife because I spend more time with it.

The MKC Sharptailed and Freezout have arrived, and it's going to be more difficult to settle the CRF vs PF debate than decide which one to keep. They are very nearly identical.

The handle size and shape are identical to the point that I believe you could interchange the G10 scales they used. The other thing that's the same is how sharp they are. I don't have a tester for this, but they are incredibly sharp. Lastly is the Kydex belt sheath, they are identical with the exception of the impression of the different blade shape pressed into them.

The (minor) differences are the blade shape, with the Sharptailed having an upswept trailing point shape and the Freezout a clip point design with a nice ridge on the spine.

The largest difference is the angle of the blade in relation to the handle and how the user intends on putting it into action.

There is a slight weight difference with the Freezout (listed at 59 grams, but measured at 56.5 grams) being 5 grams heavier than the Sharptailed. However, I removed the lanyard and aluminum band from the handle of the Freezout, and that difference dropped to 1.5 grams. I consider this small potatoes and I believe most sheep hunters would as well.

How does it feel in the hand? I believe I prefer the feel of the Freezout blade/handle angle and blade shape, despite it not being in my favorite color. Maybe it's the little extra weight (LOL) or even having the lanyard on the end of it. I'll give it the weekend and see if I can keep this hidden from Mrs BeeMaa until I decide which one to send back.

Let me know what you guys think.

I personally like the sharp tail blade. But, without holding them it’s really hard to tell…..

@Mekaniks - Let me know if you fall in love and we can work something out. ;)

They are so very close, it's difficult to choose.

@BeeMaa
I prefer the blade shape of the freeze out for some reason. Don't like the handles on either, to skinny for my big boofy hands.
Have you tried that blade runner I gave you yet. Even tho it's a bigger knife the blade shape is awesome for skinning after the initial cuts are made.

@steve white
I have a civic button lock folder that has a NitroV blade. Holds a great edge and easy to sharpen.
If you want a good fillet knife a a stupid cheap price that is comfortable to use, easy to sharpen and holds a good edge look at blade runner fillet knives, you won't be disappointed.

Sounds crazy but at the price point they are good value for money

You can change the colour of the handle, just give our mate @Forrest Halley a call. I'm sure he would have a rattle can in a colour you like.
You can't hide anything from Mrs BeeMaa you know her and my wife are friends and talk regularly. Nothing is sacred to those two have a chats.

I do have the blade, but have not used it as of yet. Rest assured, it will see meaningful use.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
