Has anyone ever had a problem with multiple people shipping trophies in one crate?

I have a buffalo flat skin and scull I’d like to include in a shipment with my friends who are shipping stuff back. Is this going to be a pain with customs?

My understanding is that this is not legal for importation into the United States, Have people done it? I bet so but all the items would no doubt have been listed as the property of one shipper. Also the outfitter would have made out paperwork saying that all the trophies were taken by one individual.

The above comment by @CAustin is correct. It has been done but is illegal.

You can ship up to 5 crates as one shipment/consignment. I shipped Two crates from 3 different outfitters. This was just under my name however. If you call your customs clearance agent they should be able to tell you the US Wildlife current rules. I use Hunter International based inPleasanton, California and they clear trophies into SFO. Call them and they could tell you. They clear many shipments.

Actually it was my wife and I with different permits and licensing so unless it’s because your family it’s OK. Call your importer to double check.

DO NOT ship more than one permitee's trophies in one container. Was told this by Atlanta F&W. They will confiscate everything and "destroy" it. IIRC, there was a thread here a few years ago where a father and son tried it and ran it to a hornet's nest of trouble.

I did it with my and my sons trophy's but they were ALL listed as mine including when they were hunted. If you have trophies under separate permits in the same crate you are running the chance of having big problems. But, it might be worth a conversation with @gizmo . He has been doing some importing and likely has better answers.

That is not a good idea. It is actually illegal if it is a hunted animal. If you get caught bad things will happen. People do it by listing everything as belonging to one person but there is a huge risk for all involved.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
