SA Government Asks For Constitutional Review On Proposed Land Confiscations

Have been reading as much as I possibly can on this. Have my first trip booked for Sept of this year. You guys think it will still be ok. I read a few articles that said if this does happen it would not be until the 2019 time frame.

You'll be fine sir.

Question. "Whites" is a general term. I bet you , if there is any bad blood it wont be against Swiss, ,Danish, Swedish etc etc. Whatever bad blood there may be would most likely be with the SA born guys but they also have the backup from the locals that rely on them for a living. I think everyone from outside Africa who doesnt really know Africa should just chill for now. Dont get worked up especially if you have zero idea except for CNN and Fox news reports hahaha. Cheers gents and ladies

That is a voice of reason kind of statement... And I would act on it for the time being.

Important though, to know what is being taught in schools today. For instance let's say one wanted to advance an argument for western culture or technology of the sort as "Europeans have made cultural contributions to world culture". That is now technically known as "white supremacism", and one runs the risk of being shut up. Such a statement would mark one at a technical level as a racist, and someone exercising white privilege, etc... These aren't just labels, they are increasingly regarded at a technical analytical and legal level as labeling actual forms of violence against oppressed people. And again, technically, oppressed people are everyone other than some europeans.

They have europeans believing this stuff, it is in some school systems at all levels, and in some cases in the human rights law.

So the point is that for the time being we are a long way from making any progress towards reversing these thought trends. And many states that have nominal european majorities are actually already past the point where supportive left wing european and other communities hold a majority of votes and that voting trend seems pretty nearly established. So in Canada this stuff receives all party support, as it does in some other places elsewhere. We recently had a conservative party leadership race in Canada, where many if not all of the younger candidates, were onside with all this stuff, their conservatism was basically only on taxes. So basically where I live this stuff isn't political.

So if I haven't hammered it home enough, a huge amount of very well developed and detailed work has gone into restructuring the toolset for public discussion. It is a mistake to consider that it is all just tosh. I don't accept it, but it works outward from principles we probably all recognize. And in places like the US, there are the theorists, but also a violent mob. You can't make the arguments you probably grew up with, if these post modernists arguments come your way, unless you are lying in wait for them also.

I don't know Africa, but in 1980 when I was in university, We had two African students at our college, and they were like Jesuits on marxist theory and tactics. Extremely well integrated in their thinking. I find it hard to believe that people like that, strengthened with post modernist thinking, aren't available in SA.

If it was my booking I would be thinking even if things were better some other time, now is the second best time to go.

Also, while I don't like this kind of uncertainty much... A lot of us look back on a time when there was more uncertainty than there is now, and wish we could have been there.

Makes sense why the government does nothing to stop the massacre of the farmers there, they want the whites out. Whether the EFF more direct just go and take it or the ANC manipulating their laws through parliament for the exact same result is disgusting. Recently I’ve been reviewing stories on you tube for South Africa’s farm murders. Most disturbing but getting little attention internationally. I have a lot more I would like to do in South Africa but have to say it looks like things are heating up very quickly there. If this land grab occurs I suggest we turn the heat up here on our Congress to pull any and all aid that the US gives, which no doubt is substantial.

I was whipping through Julius Malema clips, and he seems pretty convinced the Government isn't actually going to do this, which is what has been said here also. He obviously wants to damage the government, but that is what the president's comments looked like anyway.

Afribusiness is currently working on this issue together with various other organizations to oppose the proposal with all we have ! please look at the web site and join if you feel strongly about this serious threat facing us. thank you (Afrisake)
Im not even South African but will say you guys who say stuff like"this threat facing us" are out of line. I was talking to ....never mind.

Wonder what some of our South African friends here on AH have to say about this?

Our government really has great ideas to do things , unfortunately they lack the competence to execute their grand schemes. Keep in mind the government own the larges portion of land, the land they already expropriate from White farmers in the past is now wastelands, the problem being when receiving the land which government give to them every one is happy..everyone then are the owners of the land and nobody wants to be the worker ...so they sell the land , buy a BMW and a expensive cell phone , then go back to living in a shack they build from the corrugated iron sheets from the farm house on the farm they got for free...within a week all things on the farm goes down hill....(y)(y):LOL::LOL: That is how things ended up every time....this is reality..the sad thing is the whit people can survive and cope with these scenarios, since they know how to...unfortunately the black people is not doing so well, government is not assisting /help poor people so they are then on their own with disastrous outcomes...where ever you drive in a town, you will find hundreds of black males sitting besides the road and asking for work...every day this scenario grows worse....the black people are the ones who really struggle to survive in our country...poverty is a huge problem, with a few elite running the show and pocket a lot of money....(y)(y)

Members, war/revolt is not an option, nobody wins a war.. This thing will sort itself out...you can make as many laws as you like , if it is not based on sound principals it will fall apart...this land grab proposal will follow suite ....keep in mind a lot of farms own by white farmers are in dept, so actually the farms are the property of a bank....:D:LOL::LOL: This scheme will effect food security along the line, unfortunate the poor people will starve first...I doubt it that this will have a great effect on the white population .....(y)(y)

Very little at all.

Not exactly on topic but germane to the discussion.

A guy looked at my Corvette the other day and said I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that sports car cost.

I replied I am not sure, it fed a lot of families in Bowling Green, Kentucky who built it, it fed the people who make the tires, it fed the people who made the components that went into it, it fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires, it fed people in Decatur IL. at Caterpillar who make the trucks that haul the copper ore. It fed the trucking people who hauled it from the plant to the dealer and fed the people working at the dealership and their families. BUT,... I have to admit, I guess I really don't know how many people it fed.

That is the difference between capitalism and welfare mentality. When you buy something, you put money in people's pockets, and give them dignity for their skills.

When you give someone something for nothing, you rob them of their dignity and self worth.

Capitalism is freely giving your money in exchange for something of value.

Socialism is taking your money against your will and shoving something down your throat that you never asked for.

I've decided I can't be politically correct anymore. (I never was, actually)

In the early 90's the US government put a 10% luxury tax on yachts and private airplanes over a certain price threshold. All it did was put yacht and small plane manufactures out of business and their employees on the streets.

Common sense is not always common. Especially when it comes to politicians from any country.

The new tax law is PRO JOB, unlike the job killer one passed in the '90s. But what the heck, according to some politicians it's still a tax break for the rich. Here's the effects for biz aircraft.

As soldier and history buff, comparatively, rather a better comparison would not be the American involvement in Vietnam as would the American Civil War. But I understand the point you wish to make.

About 40 years ago: A ""theoretical assessment"" was made on country y assisting/aiding country x. " country___x____" : On the brink of______........... summation:"______based on current "factors".....pending....actions/reactions.....".....(solution) objective.....result creating a ......war within country ____y____".

Be it Hind sight 20/20.

IMO: As bad as the calculated assessment results. In todays "political/social climate": "IT" should have been done then; should such "actions" be "conducted" by country y today, the "predicted" out come will be much worse.

I am not really an expert on the US civil war but the only problem I see with using it as a comparison is that the South had decided to fight a conventional war against the North as opposed to waging an unconventional/guerrilla war. Probably would have been better off for the South as it did not look to conquer the north merely to hold the land that it had. They also would have had home field advantage fighting a guerrilla war.

Anyway I digress. If you want a good relatively modern example of the principle/scenario I described in my earlier post look the First Chechen War. This is a pretty good example...

Assuming that someone acquired their money legally- that individual should also be entitled to enjoy their money. I don't get that dude's logic so does he think that people should only use money to provide for their bare necessities and the give the rest away to charity or what ? If the whole world functioned like that, motivation for success would be drastically reduced...

This should be great news for the San (Bushman).
Being the very original land holders in South Africa. (Which is proven out by the well spread land titles they placed on rock walls throughout Southern Africa.)

I'm certain Julius has them in mind  when he talks about the various tribes migrating into a new land and expropriating it from the local natives.

I sincerely wish the REVIEW COMMITTEE the best in addressing this issue for the good of ALL South Africans.

Thanks for the informative update. Lots of insight in the comments. CB

South Africa's parliamentary authorization for appropriation without compensation is extremely disturbing and, in my opinion, very short-sighted. Actual implementation, however, is an altogether different step. My many friends in South Africa are understandably nervous, but have expressed consistent faith in their new President, on whose shoulders this rests. CB
