SA Government Asks For Constitutional Review On Proposed Land Confiscations

"not calling for the slaughter of white people–at least for now."

That seems to convey a pretty clear mindset.

The worst thing about this situation is the inflammatory rhetoric based on nothing but conjecture!

The rule of law is still intact in RSA. It has been the courts and the Hawks that have been the biggest thorn in the side of the ANC to date. Even the radical EFF is calling for restraint, as quoted:

"But the strongest proponent of the motion immediately sought to reassure the nation that nothing too drastic would come of it.

"No one is going to lose his or her house, no one is going to lose his or her flat, no one is going to lose his or her factory or industry," Julius Malema, who leads the far-left Economic Freedom Fighters party, said immediately following the vote. "All we are saying is they will not have the ownership of the land, they will have a lease, depending on what is the arrangement, particularly as it relates to the outcome of the Constitutional review process."

So, due process is being followed and a constitutionally authorized body is going to review the concept. If it does not pass constitutional scrutiny the ANC et al will require a constitutional amendment that requires 75% of the vote. The amendment seems to be designed create some sort of socialist land ownership.

We are a long long way from violent insurrection. Especially with everyone playing by the rules.

I really don't think chicken little senarios helps anyone, particularly our friends in the industry in RSA.

I thought only 66.6% of the vote was required to amend the constitution?

Julius Malema, 37, who leads the country's Economic Freedom Fighters opposition party, told a packed arena in Johannesburg that 'we are starting with this whiteness. We are cutting the throat of whiteness’ “All white people who are voting DA, who are angry with what we are going to do... all of you can go to hell, we don't care about you. We don't care about white feelings,' he said to loud applause and cheering.

Malema founded the EFF in 2013 when he was expelled from the ANC along with a number of allies, and the party now has the third largest number of MPs in the National Assembly.
In his speech, Malema welcomed the ANC's recent resolution to seek to expedite the process of redistributing land to 'rightful owners' that is widely understood to mean transferring land owned by whites to economically disadvantaged blacks.

If you ask me ,I'd say those who haven't got a history of malpractice ( ill-treating workers and the local/native population ( ruthlessness, pay issues etc etc) can sleep easy. The traditional leaders or rulers in certain areas may also be a factor. They rather than the political parties would be more likely to incite takeovers. I have seen how people can be misinformed by those who are given the task of letting the uninformed know what's going on. They get told one thing and using their own brand of politics will go and tell the rural pooulation something else knowing how easy it is to brainwash them.

Zimbabwe is a good example. Some left their properties in unjustified haste, some did get attacked and some stayed and are still going about their lives as normal. Malema is doing a " Trump" . Tell them as if you will do what all the others have not done. You have to assume that there is an element of fear as in "what happens if we allow ourselves to be the minority in the power stakes. Probably fearing what whites could to to them just as much as the whites are fearing what could possibly happen to them. Just my opinion judging from what I've seen and heard.

@Tokoloshe Safaris I have to agree, I felt pretty safe in Zim, even around Harare.

I was just randomly looking at properties online. I had been reading some history and was just trying to get a feeling of some of the places. One thing that caught my attention was the electric fences around the perimeters, and the metalwork covering the buildings. Not like here at all. Here a random person might shoot you. Very rare. But you have no sense that you are living in a place where the whole population is a threat no mater how high or low the threat.

My feeling, which may be unfair to many other African nations, is that RSA is the African country that works. In particular that even during some dark times the courts were well regarded, and not just for how they treated white people. Anything that rips into that kind of confidence is not good, and can have a large downward multiplier. It is hard to rebuild confidence, and for many people it will never happen because the new normal includes the fact that a schism once occurred and could happen again.

@Mr. 16 gauge While there is absolutely nothing wrong with going moose hunting in Canada, despite the political turmoil there, I think writing off RSA as a hunting destination because of the level of political turmoil at this time is way over the top. I see you are in Michigan: Should a person cancel a trip to the Michigan U.P. because of the murder rate in Detroit?
With all due respect, I feel you are comparing apples and oranges........nobody in the mayor's office is advocating taking land away and giving it to others, nor are they advocating killing anyone of any race. Is the crime rate high.....yes! Is it sanctioned by politicians running the country? NO!!!
I fear for the farmers of South Africa, but then again, the same thing is going on here............high taxes for "poor immigrants" that drive up to the ER in their $30,000 SUVs while wearing their Rolex watches, and they need prescriptions for Tylenol and Motrin because they "can't afford it" and need to get it with Govt. assistance.:rolleyes:o_O When members of the political status quo are singing and dancing and advocating killing someone because of their race, you can be damn sure that I WON'T be visiting that country!!!
......and, FWIW, after having worked in the city of Detroit for 30+ years, all I can say is if you can get to the U.P. without going through Detroit, GO AROUND!!!

Should be asking those that are actually on the ground albeit the fact that they may not want to speak up for the sake of them not being singled out. I mean, who knows ? There could well be a mole on the site. Either way, I think the rest of Africa has learned from the Zimbabwe issue and will be a little more careful in how they go about it. I went to Zambia for 2 weeks last year and ended up spending the whole 12 months there. I dont see whites being targeted. Question. "Whites" is a general term. I bet you , if there is any bad blood it wont be against Swiss, ,Danish, Swedish etc etc. Whatever bad blood there may be would most likely be with the SA born guys but they also have the backup from the locals that rely on them for a living. I think everyone from outside Africa who doesnt really know Africa should just chill for now. Dont get worked up especially if you have zero idea except for CNN and Fox news reports hahaha. Cheers gents and ladies

The media seems to not want to let this go. Even though dill hole Malema has been saying this crap for years. The guy has found a platform and wants to be a Junior Mugabe or Kenyatta. The difference between Kenya, Zimbabwe, and South Africa? Oh yeah, population. Many more whites, many different tribes. Now, if foreign intervention ever plays a key in this, which it might, it would be Russia, the US, and China and then you have a whole different scenario which probably would look like a very disorganized Syria. We aren't even close to this. Matter of fact, someone on the forum posted about things getting "Cheeky in Namibia" last year when land redistribution was talked about. Again, more propaganda crap. Just Chill out and book a hunt. If you are scared, buy insurance.

I was in Zimbabwe in 2006, and I wouldn’t hesitate to plan a trip to SA today.

I am going to SA this month. Not to worry. I would not make airline reservations or a big deposit for 2019 until I see what happens. This sounds like socialism. Socialism is an opiate for the masses administrated through a government by elitist to control the masses and enrich and protect the elitist. Any redistribution will result in the powerful black natives getting most of the land and the poor getting very little. A hunting trip later this year should be good, I think. South Africa is a very powerful attraction.

Afribusiness is currently working on this issue together with various other organizations to oppose the proposal with all we have ! please look at the web site and join if you feel strongly about this serious threat facing us. thank you (Afrisake)

Have been reading as much as I possibly can on this. Have my first trip booked for Sept of this year. You guys think it will still be ok. I read a few articles that said if this does happen it would not be until the 2019 time frame.
