Portable Bench Rest

@Mark A Ouellette has a great standing bench he built. From what I can see, it seems sturdy. I hope he reads this post.

I got one from Sportsman's Warehouse that has served me well. Similar to the 'white' tables that Sams Club sells, but with the sides cut out for a bench rest.

$335 for the seat from them, $59 from a music store for the same seat???

The Stukeys, if I remember right, are either milled down or sleeved to get precision tolerance on the fit from the legs to the top. The design is cheap, 3 legs and a reinforced top, the execution is not. It’s the precision tolerance that makes it such a sturdy bench, and machine time is expensive. There is essentially 0 slop in the stukey bench. You can build one of the same design yourself for about $500 worth of materials (to get exact same, not “close enough”)

If youre into extreme accuracy with a portable bench, I really don’t think there’s any other one you can buy that even comes close. The price point isn’t for everyone though, certainly above my salary unless I give up other things I don’t want to give up, but they are incredible benches.

I set this on a white folding table then sit on a cheap plastic chair, works well for me. Then again, I’m not trying to split the hairs on a gnat’s ass at 100 yards!

I was referring to the seat, not the bench, hence why I said seat in my post. I have one of those seats that I use with my bench, I bought it from a musical supply store, I think they are drummers seats

I knew what you meant, but the seat isn’t just a music store special either. It’s a special order to his specifications, with higher quality materials than the sub $100 ones you’ll find at some music stores. Out of the whole setup though I agree the seat is the place to save money on without hurting quality by too much.

I haven’t posted here in a while but we offer the best stability in a very portable option.

These benches have adjustable aluminum legs, internal leg storage and a lot of other features.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?
