I realize that about SS. I'd like to see it phased out as it stands now. The fact that the money is not invested in an account that each person pays into and stays in their name is the problem.

I hope the new Trump accounts are a start in the direction of privatization of SS accounts that GWB talked about.

My friend was a missionary to Chile. He said the peons down there have better retirement than the US average due to the fact that their retirement monies were privatized and the government could not rob it. The real problem is Congress is a professional thief, they rob SS, and get away with it.

In addition the scope of SSA was increased from the original Title 1, last I knew there were 9 Titles, all involving SSA funding some program. Combine not everyone paying back the SSA loan with politicians expanding places to spend the money and you have a recipe for Chapter 7.

Sadly, this thread gets into the gutter too often, and divides us as hunters. While it is often fascinating, the tone of some of the comments pull us away from the real purpose of this website.

All of those monies were returned to SS.

The issue is it isn’t a savings account. It had a surplus when boomers were in peak earning years because there were so many of them relative to the bomber if recipients. Now they are recipients and Gen X is in peak earning years but there are very few of us.

It’s all about demographics. Social security is a tax where current payors fund current recipients. There is no lockbox or savings plan.

Actually I like this one. I'm gonna buy a roll of Trump $1 coins before they become illegal. I'll tack them all up downrange and shoot each one with .22. Then mount and frame the coins with a brass plaque commemorating the day I shot twenty bucks in one afternoon.

He acknowledged it was a boff on the part of the Committee which I'm sure was something of an embarrassment for them. Then Trump gets mad because they won't make the same mistake twice. Pathetic.

Feinstein was the saddest case of elder abuse we've seen play out publicly; but I had ZERO sympathy for her because her own greed for power put her in the position to be used by her own ilk for YEARS.....

This had been blatantly obvious for YEARS

It's not just the politicians, there are "educators" at the University I work for who are 80+ with fully funded pensions who simply refuse to leave; and I honestly believe it's because they won't let go of the ability to tell others what to do..... and yes they are long past being productive.

Same for Ginsburg; remember all the pissing and moaning that was done about Trump picking her replacement?...... She could have retired under Obama but that would mean releasing the golden cow of power.
