"Break your enemy's blockade, by blockading their blockade" - Don Tzu Art Of War

Iran needs to be turned into a sheet of glass
The problem with that is 1. A lot of innocent Persians would be killed and 2. Iran would become a rallying cry of those Islamist radicals around the world to continue their Jihad against Israel, USA and the free world in general. So the Iran problem would metastasize into an even greater war with some former allies being alienated against us.

And they are already living inside the Western world

All kinds of crazy conspiracy theories over Lindsey Graham's death.
Preliminary autopsy reported by the media stated an aortic dissection?

Listen to him babble nonsense! Wow! I mean Biden had an excuse: onset of dementia. But even he never carried on like this. No comparison. So embarrassing. And yet some still believe Trump has credibility. You know ... the same folks who think the drug companies put microchips in COVID vaccines. It's all the mainstream media's fault. They make him talk nonsense.

Dementia Donnie is simply sundowning again, nothing to see here. Every accusation was always a confession with him.

Social Security generally isn't invested at all.

It's immediately paid out to cover current retiree payments.

When a surplus does occur, which it hasn't since 2020, it's invested into US Treasury securities.

That's an entirely different problem, because in theory social security contributions should therefore act as a major buyer of US government debt, which keeps the books balanced and stabilizes rates for government borrowing... now there's nothing spare to buy those bonds, which is a little bit of a liquidity issue, but hey, that's a different conversation.

Anyhow, these $1000 funded accounts will almost definitely exceed any social security payments these babies will get.

For what it's worth I'm 30, and I pay into SS every month with the full and depressing expectation that it'll be bankrupt and abolished long before even I retire, let alone the poor sods 30 years behind me.
That's what I said, but it is still going....

They’ll eventually pass NDAA. It’s literally one piece of mist pass legislation they’ve passed every year since the 1980s. It frequently gets held up at some point in the process to make a political point and create negotiating leverage.

Since it is a must pass bill both sides throw a few sweeteners in under the radar to build the coalition of support.

It will be tough this year but it will get done. Probably the week or so before Christmas.

Mitch McConnell is toast. Very sad watching that press conference. Doesn't know what planet he's on. Shame he can't just do the honorable thing and step down graciously. Wait ... isn't the governor of Kentucky a Democrat? Yep. Well that explains it. Governor would appoint McConnell's replacement if he can't finish his term. So the GOP will keep a half dead zombie in the Senate because Trump can't afford to lose even one vote in that house. So they wheel him into Senate so his wife can raise his hand for him to vote? Will that really work?

Under kentucky law the governor does not appoint the successor. They hold a special election. If he resigns after August 3 the November election becomes the special election. If before then they will have an election just short time before the regular one and whoever wins that will serve the rest of this year.

Interesting that the Kentucky Assembly made the change to special election in 2024. Maybe they could see McConnell was living on borrowed time.

It was actually because there was speculation that the other senator was going to retire and they had a Dem governor. Originally they passed a bill requiring the legislature to choose the successor but the governor vetoed that.

If nothing else, it’s entertaining to watch Trump continually jerk the chain of all the low IQ, gullible, ignorant, brain washed trolls.
