You truly have a wonderful, subtle British sense of humor.
Very astonishing for an American. :A Outta:
Bravo.
But not everyone is a Cicero :)

Very gracious of you.

One might think 400 years of melting pot crossbreeding by my ancestors would correct that genetic flaw but occasionally a Chauceresque bit of satire, irony or sarcasm slips out.

Sarcasm being the lowest form of humor tends to be the place I wallow most comfortably.

I have seen several Paxton interviews. Between those and what I read about him, he doesn't sound like someone I would vote for. And for some reason it doesn't surprise me Trump endorsed him. I personally think Republicans are pissing away whatever they could have gained the past year plus. That lion hunting video with everyone shooting across each other comes to mind.

Much like the last presidential election, it’s going to come down to a lessor of evils decision…

Cornyn is seen as weak on 2A issues by a lot of Texans… and he’s seen as “establishment… neither bode well with the working class conservative or with those on the far right…

Paxton was a pretty loud voice opposing much of the COVID nonsense and is closely aligned with Abbott… both give him some advantage with the “common man” Texan…

Personally, I prefer Cornyn…

But if Paxton beats him in the run off, rest assured I will pull the lever extra hard in November for Paxton…

Because the other option is Telarico… the Texas version of Virginia’s white witch… a guy that claims to be a moderate.. but whose track record proves he is an extreme leftist..

If Paxton wins I will absolutely vote for him. Same if Cornyn wins. I have been represented by Talarico and, believe me, I do not want to be represented by him again.

... the Texas version of Virginia’s white witch…
You used the wrong consonant at the front of Witch.

Both Cornyn and Paxton have their pros amd cons, but I too will be decidedly voting for whichever one of them moves on to the November ballot.
It scares me a bit how many lunatics on my street have Talarico signs in their yards. But Im not surprised either- they're the same ones that had Biden then Harris signs.

It's cringe worthy to see how many voters are wooed by slick talking snake oil salesmen, that think they will get something. The current Democrat party gives nothing but economic pain and misery.

Anti Trumper, Thomas Massie, defeated in primary, by Trump endorsed candidate.

Buh bye....

Amen to that.... and even the "controlled immigration" is a farce

33%+ of the population of Frisco Texas is now made up of Indian tech workers.

I'm tired of company owners and spokesmen saying "There is a shortage of domestic engineers"

If that is true then why is the importation of H1 workers always preceded by firing the domestic work force?

I saw this start first hand back in 2010 when our office in Plano was across the street from the HP campus on Tennison Ave; when they laid off their local workers and replaced them with H1 imports.

First the apartment complexes filled, then the homes that were sold by laid off tech workers became filled with 4-5X the number of occupants.

Doubt me?...... Go to the Costco in Frisco Texas on a Saturday and tell me you're still in the USA!
Correct, but which is worse? Workers replaced at republican controlled big businesses to save a buck and enact shareholder value theory, or workers replaced because of bleeding-heart hippie liberals? If it's up to me I'd rather have them picking my strawberries vs. taking my engineering job.

It’s well know that inner city decline and urban decay is a symptom of workaholism. ;)

Too much work ethic is probably also the reason that Walmart locks up their makeup and has closed stores in certain areas too. :D
And I'm sure terrible republican trade deals, shareholder value theory, and republican led de-regulation had absolutely nothing to do with the urban decay and the creation of the rust belt. Must have been one too many rainstorms?

But sure.. make sure you do the Congressional Black Caucus proud and get your engineering degree from Hampton University (ranked 113th in the US) rather than Texas A&M (ranked 24th) or UT Austin (ranked 14th)...

Lets see how much further in life that gets you..

Sometimes the CBC makes the most ridiculous arguments imagineable.. lets see... a "racist" school like Alabama admits a black student into their top 10 athletic program or their top 10 academic program.. but... instead of going there you should enroll at a school that the majority of people that arent black (Im not just talking about white people) arent familiar with and play ball there or study there... knowing up front that the athletic program or the academic program are inferior to the SEC program... which thereby lowers the probability of a successful future..
Considering that very few college athletes graduate with an engineering degree, I don't think it'll be a problem.

Ah yes, please do elaborate on the evils of Talarico.

As long as they are here legally I don’t have an issue with immigration. However, for whatever reason liberals conflate the two in their arguments.

An example, in today’s headline was ICE arrested 100K immigrants who had US citizen kids. Well, if I rob someone they are not going to let me go because I have kids, don’t understand why having US citizen kids should make someone exempt from immigration laws.

Ah yes, please do elaborate on the evils of Talarico.
If you dont know them already, and are unable to see/find them, It is a waste of my time and energy to type it out for someone who wants to support him.

More importantly, since you're in NC, I dont need to educate you for a Texas vote.

Ah Yes, Welfare. Another Democrat program which ruined the Black Nuclear family. Which incentivized women to have more children without a father in the home.
Which is the primary indicator and driver of poverty and poor performance in school.

Instead of addressing the issue of fatherless young black males. Democrats blame the firearm for black on black crime driving most of the “Gun Violence” numbers held up by those same Democrats.

Instead of addressing the issue of fatherless young black males. Democrats want more money to pump into the inner city failed school system.

The root cause of all the social issues Democrats bemoan were caused by Democrats.
Perhaps if Nixon and Reagan's war on drugs didn't throw all those black fathers in jail for minor offenses they would be at home with their families? Go look up Nixon's comments about "Hippies and Negro's." In NC only 21% of those in prison are there for crimes against people. 25% for crimes against property, and 54% for "quality of life crimes." AKA, drugs, drugs, and more drugs. I'm sure throwing all those people in jail helped cure them of their drug addictions...right...right...?

And I'm sure that republicans and their big-business pimps outsourcing manufacturing jobs to third-world countries by the millions to enforce Friedman's shareholder value theory didn't have anything to do with the dramatic increase in poverty in "rust belt" cities either? Poverty is the real culprit of the ills that you speak of, perhaps you should consider addressing that? Oh wait, that's right, didn't someone else here say the quiet part out loud already about forever keeping American workers on the treadmill and "hungry for more." I mean the corporate capitalist machine must have fresh blood continuously scared that they'll end up on the street and destitute (I agree a starving man will work harder). Which is the real reason why republicans were against the ACA, god forbid workers are able to leave their employers and not be afraid of going bankrupt or die without health insurance! We can't have that in America!

Typical liberal thinking on this one. His theory is that parents are so busy working 2-3 jobs, 60+ hours a week so there is no one at home to guide the troubled yutes.

Counter-theory. Culture matters. Shitty students come from shitty parents. Shitty parents are concentrated into certain ethnic groups and it has everything to do with culture and nothing to do with wealth or oppression.

My evidence would be the richest ethnic groups in America:

1.) Chinese. They either grew up under Mao's marxist oppression, or their ancestors were treated as slaves building the transcontinental railroad in America. All that oppression and prior poverty, yet their kids flourish in school and its the richest ethnic group in America.

2.) Indian. 6000 years living under a caste system. 500 years living under British rule where their wealth was extracted and sent to the UK. Post-partition, many suffered atrocities and witnessed murder in the late 1940s. Yet their kids flourish in school and they are the #2 wealthiest Americans.

3.) Ashkanazi Jews. 70 years ago they were in internment camps. Prior to that the pograms nationalized their wealth and roles in successful companies. Roughly 1/3rd of global jewry died in WW2. Yet somehow, in spite of starting with nothing and having lost numerous ancestors in the modern era under brutal conditions, they flourished in school and they are the 3rd wealthiest ethnic group in America.
I fully agree with you that shitty students usually come from shitty parents. And that shitty parents are one of, if not the most influential factor in poor education outcomes in United States of America. But, when's the last time you ever saw a politician, Republican, Democrat, or otherwise, look their voters in the face and tell them that the reason their child is failing in school is because they are shitty parents? I've never seen it. I always hear republicans say that charter schools and vouchers are the answer, so how do those solutions solve the shitty parents problem???

Regarding ethnic groups 1 and 2...The Chinese and Indian immigrants in this country are also usually the "top of the top, cream of the crop." In order to legally immigrate here you usually have to already be at the top of ones game/profession/career...America usually doesn't take the leftovers from counties like that. If you actually spend time in those two countries, they have many of the same problem's that America has, crime, poverty, disease, drugs, dumb-dumbs, etc. Some of it is cultural, but some is also just a highly selective vetting process as well. They have lots of dirt-bags and degenerates in their cultures back at home.

As for ethnic group 3, I mean yeah, having 1/3 of your people wiped out will tend to cause the remaining 2/3rds to become more socially and economically closer to one another. Its not just about success, it's about survival.

Every modern economy right now has proven you can have economic growth while running massive deficits. Doesn't mean a day of reckoning isnt coming but liquidity fuels economy growth.
But that's my point, the day of reckoning is coming, but since many of these republican baby-boomers wont be here to see it, they don't seem to care. But then they'll claim that they're scared of Iran getting the bomb? Iran didn't pose a treat to us. Israel...yes, USA...no. So they'll go to war over a minimally possible threat to the country, but totally overlook the real threat that they know about, acknowledge, and see coming, but don't care about cuz it doesn't immediately hurt them?

Remind me again, how many counties has North Korea nuked in the past 20 years?

oh you Americans....
My dear friend, what you are posting there is the mindset of an American backwoodsman.I understand you—I am a backwoodsman myself, a Bavarian one—but I have traveled far more extensively than you have, particularly to England. It is simply nonsense; and here, I would like to come to England's defense (provided they aren't playing football/Soccer against us and arriving with their hooligans )

So:
England is an absolutely liberal country and consistently ranks among the top nations for freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of religion.Fundamentally, quiet, peaceful prayer is permitted everywhere. This is absolutely protected by the rights to freedom of religion and freedom of speech.
There is one specific exception, however, that sometimes leads to misunderstandings.
Around abortion clinics, there is a 150-meter buffer zone; this is because the authorities do not want patients and clinic staff to be harassed by these "prayers", as such actions are viewed as targeted acts of protest.
The point is not to criminalize prayer—not at all.
Rather, England has determined that the protection of privacy—and, above all, mental health—constitutes a higher legal value than freedom of religion.
Outside of that 150-meter zone, you are free to pray peacefully until you pass out—and no one will take issue with it.

Hyde Park:
You are, in fact, where everything is taken for granted, free to speak peacefully in public just about anywhere—provided you do not obstruct anyone or disrupt traffic. However, Hyde Park also serves as a stage—one that invariably draws a large audience, sometimes—and that is precisely what the speakers there love. The provision allowing one to say anything—with the sole exception of insults directed at the Royal Family—stands as a democratic achievement.Nowadays, such a privilege would hardly be enough to get anyone excited; yet back in 1872, when Speakers' Corner first opened, people in other parts of Europe would have had their heads lopped off on the spot for engaging in such free-spirited, audacious speech.
Best regards
Foxi
Quite a few people have been arrested in England for speech to call it a free speech country…”liberal”maybe but that term has been changed from the first have of the 20th century “classical liberal” and resemble more communist in most speech and interaction dealings.
if your Bavarian I assume you are German or Austrian.. some of the things people have been jailed in Germany for saying is appalling and that trend seems to extend to many places in Western Europe now. They may have once had free speech but it certainly doesn’t look that way in Europe today.

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
