And as Winston said early on.....

So now Trump is warning Taiwan against declaring independence. And this on the cusp of the 250th anniversary US declaring independence from its oppressive tyrannical mother country. A bit hypocritical don't you think? So what's the alternative implied here: Taiwan better accept reunification with communist China. I see, so one island in Asia should accept transition to communism while another island in the Caribbean is being starved of life sustaining fuel because it won't reject communism. Yeah, that makes so much sense. Xi knew how to get what he wanted from Trump: just blow smoke up his ass. Tell him how great he is and he becomes putty in anyone's hands. The guy is a diplomatic trainwreck.
I’ve heard it’s a relatively well known fact by Intelligence that China takes Taiwan in 2027…
They think our mid terms will weaken Trumps resolve in addition to our many other “distractions”
Why go to war over it

Sounds like he has no resolve. But maybe tomorrow he will. Who knows? He keeps switching tracks. Like I said, he's a trainwreck.

Speaking of Trump's "magnificent great" diplomatic accomplishments, what's the latest with his "Board of Peace"? Dead in the water I presume. Didn't take a bag of tea leaves to forecast what its future would be ... with Trump declaring himself chairman for life.

Why go to to war over Taiwan? Same reason Cubans are being starved. To preserve freedom and "fight the spread of communism."

Because every sophisticated technology on planet earth requires their 10 nanometer chip manufacturing plants. China can make worthless chips used in industrial controls or lousy cars, but only Taiwan can make cutting edge chips.

A world where all foundational technology is under Chinese rule is a game-over.

Add to that, with Taiwan under Chinese control, there is no reason for the USA to have presence within their waters. That sees us tucking tail to Japan or the Philippines, leaving the entire region susceptible to further Chinese aggression and hegemony.

Speaking of desperate measures. I think someone mentioned if the government were to confiscate all of billionaires money, it would fund the government only for a few months.

So higher taxes of a select few is not the answer.

Half the country either does not pay taxes and/or gets welfare from the government.

A drastic solution, and only drastic because it would be unpopula as it would hit everyone. Do away with mortgage interest deduction AND implement a national sales tax.
Interestingly the so-called socialist countries like Denmark tax all income levels. Everyone has skin in the game.
Here in Dallas the low IQ voters pass every bond election because they don't have skin in the game. We recently had a bond election to build new schools. Right after the election, the local news was opining that declining enrollment would mean closing many schools. What??!!
At least with a sales tax, everyone pays, including visitors and tourists.

Historians do not universally label Winston Churchill as the absolute worst Chancellor of the Exchequer, but his tenure is widely considered one of the most economically damaging of the 20th century. While his policy choices caused significant long-term harm, he faces stiff competition from other Chancellors for the "worst" title depending on whether historians are measuring technical competence, political manipulation, or immediate economic catastrophe. The Case Against ChurchillChurchill’s claim to the title rests almost entirely on his 1925 decision to return Britain to the Gold Standard at its pre-World War I parity rate. The Economic Damage: Setting the British pound at an overvalued rate ($4.86) made British exports prohibitively expensive. It triggered severe deflation, slashed wages, forced over a million people into unemployment, and directly caused the 1926 General Strike.

His Own Admission: Churchill himself later joked about the universal backlash. In 1930, he famously remarked to historian A.L. Rowse: "Everybody said that I was the worst Chancellor of the Exchequer that ever was. And now I'm inclined to agree with them. So now the world's unanimous."

It’s funny how those who have never lived in a Socialist society advocate for this great country to go that route. Go live in one and then come back and talk to me. And, yes I lived in one and know very well what it feels like to live under the boot of a Socialist Government.
I have very few complaints living in Canada that aren’t climate related

I believe it was the ‘70’s when the Canadian government came out with a list of guns we couldn’t have. I gave one up and later they took it off the list, but my gun was gone. That nonsense made it very clear that gun ownership in Canada is a privilege, not a right. The subsequent lies, ineptitude and overreach around the PAL system just reinforced my opinion.

There are things I love about Canada, but I will never live there again.
