Dear Virginia:

Yeah we just “recycle” our plastic by shipping it to the Philippines. What happens after that no one cares. The point is that disposal solutions for any man made product always lag the creation and implementation of them.
Yeah I will be waiting to see what 170’ long blades are recycled into :ROFLMAO:

You keep coming back to this point over and over again. How does this make Europe stronger? What is Europe doing to make itself stronger?
Since Trump by now has made sure that any potential adversary knows that its unlikely that he would order the US to assist other Nato allies it would be better if he simply left. Obviously it would not make Europe stronger, but on the other hand it would not make us weaker either due to the first paragraph above.

I think it would be much better for europe to truly know that we are on our own instead of having some dream or fantasy that things will return to normal once Trump is gone...

what he is failing to recognize is Trump cannot leave NATO.. only congress can do that..

what he can do is strangle it..

which is what he is doing...
Thats probably true and unfortunately I dont see the other allies leaving Nato on their own. It was unfortunate that congress implemented those safeguards preventing Trump to leave Nato without also making sure he would have to actually support the alliance.

It is also sad that Rubio was so invested in putting those safeguards in place and now has turned into such a brown-nose for Trump.

I think KJE81 is quite right.. We know that the Congress must decide wether the US pull out of NATO or not. Trump obviously strangle the alliance. But this is mostly talk..there are no signs of the US running away from commitements in Europe.

That is a fact, no matter how much members here think ditcing NATO is a good idea.

But as it stands right now both the US and Europe benefit from NATO membership, who knows where the next conflict may occur..? Remember 9-11

I have a bad feeling about China - Taiwan..I think Xi has plans, why else this enormous military build up of his..?

If China makes a move against Taiwan I have a feeling that the numbers in this recent article from Politico might change:

I assume the numbers in the chart above are a result of the US behavior under the present Trump administration concerning Greenland and similar threats towards Europe.

Oh, for pities sake, there’s no threat to Europe over the USA taking Greenland. One cannot threaten to take something that is already owned.

OMG reporting on another high level security official within the DoD vomiting national security secrets to a stranger. Watch how full of himself and animated he becomes, in all his self-assured hubris, as he betrays his country to a “tinder” hook-up.

I assume that when you write "that is already owned" you are referring to owned by Denmark? It would seem to be the result of the treaty signed by the US and Denmark (Convention between the United States and Denmark for cession of the Danish West Indies): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_the_Danish_West_Indies

The clever Trump appointed ambassador to Iceland also managed to insult his host nation by suggesting that Iceland also should be american. Its also really odd that apparently neither Iceland nor Greenland wants to be part of the best country in the world ;)

Thanks for having a sense of humor on this. I was only joking..(but, seriously, c’mon it’s ours. :))

The most telling thing in that article is that their polling shows that only 19% of Europeans would take up arms and fight if their own country was attacked…

So Europe worries that the US won’t be there to defend it if it is attacked and Article 5 is invoked..

But less than 1/5th of the population would bother to fight to defend itself..

If more than 4 out of 5 Europeans truly think it’s someone else’s job to defend them in the event of foreign invasion, Europe deserves to lose the right of self governance when that invasion occurs..

It’s one thing to say you dont want to fight.. it’s quite another to say you wont fight..

Well, now that nationalism and pride in the flag etc. is considered part of "toxic masculinity" and also threatening to others, I am pretty sure the younger folks in the USA will be getting to that percentage as well. The progressive wing of the Democrat party is as anti-military as they come and they are becoming a dominant force now.

Oddly, many naturalized citizens state they would more likely than not fight for their original homeland and not the U.S.

We tend to denigrate Europeans on this subject. But actually we simply lag Europe in the slide into mediocrity and socialism. They had a head start.

As we tease them, we’re looking at our future

Which is exactly why I unashamedly tell most Europeans if they are going to sit on their hands, they can sit on their hands with their mouth closed.
