Before anyone declares that going to war for oil, Petrodollars and the reserve currency is a bad thing.

The alternative is far worse.

Weakening and replacing the dollar more than likely means a new global superpower that doesn’t have other nations and their people’s best interests in mind. (China)

The world economy would be depressed during the transition. The US economy would most likely collapse. Think Zimbabwe, Argentina, Venezuela currency corrections.

China has a 50 year plan to replace the dollar and it’s ahead of schedule. They buy every bit of physical gold and other metals to prepare for a new Reserve Currency.

So before we declare the U.S. as war mongers. Think of it as keeping the larger peace and economic stability.

So now he opens to end the war without securing whatever enriched uranium the iranians posess..?

What happened to the stated objectives of ending Irans nuclear weapon program..?

And without securing and reopen the Hormuz..?

Then, after belitteling and stating he has no use for NATO allies , then he plans to pressure them to embark on a military adventure to open and secure the Hormuz..??

The mind boggles..

I’m not sure if you’re even following Trump’s policies and his statements.
Trump is waging a war he never intended to fight at this way(14 days), and the situation is spiraling dramatically out of his control. He threatens countries like Canada and Europe with annexation, and yet suddenly expects them to be allies who will help him with his unilateral actions and delusions of omnipotence. No way. From the very beginning, he has plunged the world and administrations into crises. He threatens to withdraw from NATO; Hmmmmm..... Because no one here believes that Trump would really help us if things went south. Friends mean nothing to him, treaties mean nothing to him, and allies are only worth something if they kowtow to him. He insults heads of state and their countries. He recently claimed in public about the Saudi Crown Prince that “he would kiss his ass.”
If you think a ground offensive in Iran with the ridiculous 20,000 troops now being discussed can accomplish anything, you know nothing about Persians. Here, the media is already debating which wars the U.S. has actually won in the last 80 years:
Korea—after three years of bloody casualties—withdrawal;
Vietnam—amidst enormous casualties—withdrawal;
The Iraq War with Saddam: G.W. Bush was duped by Cheney, Wolfowitz, and Rumsfeld; withdrawal left chaos in its wake, and ISIS rose from the ashes there.
Afghanistan: 20 years of deployment, sacrifices, and withdrawal—today, the Taliban are in power there.
Correct me if I'm wrong; I'm always happy to learn.
Everyone needs to take a breath and calm down. We are not leaving NATO. The Strait of Hormuz will get opened. We are just four weeks in.

Thats the main problem with no coalition building before initiating the war I think, Trump can just unilaterally declare victory regardless if his stated objectives are met or not whenever he feels that the international or domestic pressure gets to high/the war polls to bad stateside...

Yep..looks like he is leaving Hormuz to others..

The main problem is that the EU and UK, since the thatcher days, have lived in a woke make-believe world thinking that the heavy lifting will be done by those ‘ ignorant cousins’

Well those ‘ignorant cousins’ have told you to do one

Uncomfortable, but timely in my opinion

It certainly doesn't take much to boggle yours. ..

Just a random thought.

What if the Navy sailed one of those warships equipped with the sophisticated anti missile defense system they the strait as a decoy to get the Iranians to fire at it .
They could then pinpoint the missile locations and pound it with bunker busters.

Too risky?

You’d need somthing more similar to a Q ship wouldn’t you to get them to fire at it ? I can’t see the Iranians being stupid enough to target a U.S. war ship.

Great idea, except some aren't familiar with the concept.

Dynamic strikes are ad hoc attacks based on real-time intelligence as opposed to pre-planned missions. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced that the US carried out over 200 dynamic strikes in Iran on Monday.

“Over the last 24 hours saw the lowest number of enemy missiles and drones fired by Iran,” Hegseth said. “We recently destroyed another one of their command bunkers… Just last night, we had 200 dynamic strikes alone.”

When I was coming up, if someone complained about something, they were often required to suggest an alternative. Complaining without offering another way to do things was considered whining.

So @Pondoro, please tell us all, in your opinion, what precisely should be done with Iran?

It takes time to build a coalition. Building a coalition also requires plans not leaking. Building a coalition also requires trust. Pin fault where you like but there wasn’t much trust between Europe and America prior to the first bomb falling.

Which meeting did Iran tell Witkoff they had 450kg at 60%. Probably February 6th. Possibly the second meeting or maybe even the 26th but probably not. According to some published reports that puts Iran a couple weeks from having bomb(s).

Israel probably already knew this. They probably had the decapitation strike planned for the first available opportunity. Israel May have been prepared to launch preemptive nukes themselves if forced to go it alone. Would that have been a better scenario.

We don’t know the time constraints. Was there time to even consider building a coalition or worry about how long the SoH would be closed. Is the world better off without an 87 year old religious fanatic with nuclear bombs saying today we meet in Paradise.

I’m reminded of my favorite Patton quote: A good plan violently executed today is far and away better than a perfect plan tomorrow.

Last week I read the UK had 12 serviceable ships at the ready. The UK sent well over 100 to the Falklands.

It would be inconceivable to Thatcher the lack of assets available to the UK if a Falkland situation arose today.
