If the USA could take and hold control of Kharg Island, the Strait of Hormuz could be controlled.

A better option in my not so humble opinion would be to form a OPEC-type collaboration of all the countries in the Persian Gulf to share control of Kharg Island to keep the Strait of Hormuz open to international shipping.

I believe it might be easier to control Kharg Island, without actually occupying it. Iran was exporting around 2 million barrels per day. That's one supertanker a day. Deny access with a naval blockade. Don't let the tankers berth at Kharg Island. When the oil storage tanks are full, the producing fields and wells have to be shut in. It is not an easy process to do, nor is it an easy process to restart production.

One other comment: Insurance has been a big issue for the shippers. A supertanker or VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) holds around 2 million barrels. At $100 oil, the cargo value is $200 million. Hence the need for insurance. The shipping company would be ruined if a large cargo went up in smoke.

A huge problem in a marine environment is the storage of the fuel. Is it in a old rusty steel tank or a new modern fiberglass tank, then there are the lines from the tanks to the pumps. It's the same problem with farm tanks that sit up on a stand. They are usually older and made out of steel. Very few of these tanks incorporate a water separator before or after the pump, and the pickup in the tanks is down on the bottom of the tanks where all the crud and water sits.

Marine definitely has it's own issues. The off-road stuff here that is trucked in is just not treated as carefully as the on-road stuff. The fuel dock stuff is top notch but you will pay for it.

We occasionally use the fuel dock at the #1 sportfishing yacht builder in the world, Viking Yachts, right around the corner from us. It's top tier fuel, water separated, filtered, and additives are put in. That will get you about $4.15/gallon based on last years pricing. Most of the marina fuel is in fact, very clean. A lot of the cost is the massive tax and EPA fees they saddle on marina operators for having fuel "on the water." Ironically, I am pretty certain the boatyard doesn't even use that. They truck it in for the first fill on a lot of these yachts which have 2000 gallons or more of fuel.

I do know of people, as mentioned, who got dirty off-road fuel from the fuel truck. They are frequent fishermen who turn their tanks over all the time, maintain their fuel systems, etc. The only explanation is dirty fuel to begin with.

Maybe it's a local NJ thing the way the fuel is here. I know this state some how finds a way to get more screwed up every day.

We have a couple of gas stations and our farmers co-op that has off road diesel.
Our farm has off road (tractors) and on road ( 18 wheelers)delivered in bulk along with DEFF for both and unleaded for our pickups.

That makes sense. We have a lot of agg here in NJ from the central to southern part of the state. Where I am in the north, there are only fuel suppliers. They supply tons of home heating oil and off-road to a lot of construction operations. We have a couple big ones here. Cramer, Sanzari, etc.

The trucks here are relatively reasonable. They will come and deliver for a minimum of 100 gallons which isn't too bad.

One of my farmer clients has an on-site tank they have filled for all their equipment. They have the truck just come and deliver when it gets low.

Nope. Sadly not only has he joined the clicking banana fringe with Candice Owens, but so has Meghan Kelly. She also is dug in with the Americans dying for Israel nonsense. I think what we see is one of the real problems with YouTube and X popularity. There are bias confirmation communities of on line, left and right, that soak up every bit of this sort of lunatic narrative. That results in lots of "likes" and comments which are monetized for the pod-caster. It gives the impression of general popularity, when in fact, it is the same relatively small, biased community day after day. The vast majority of "normies" in the population never see such clips unless it is captured by a larger news service.
