Israel crossed a serious line and I believe they did so to get the US into a full fledged war.

I don't care how evil the opponent supposedly is, or how bloodthirsty the battle, or how valuable the target, you never-never-ever-ever strike an embassy.

Pretty sancrosanct reason: Diplomats end conflicts. You strike an embassy, you're literally killing the mechanism for any future negotiation. Another reason: While the embassy is the sovereign soil of that building's ambassador nation, you're striking another power's soil in the radius all directions surrounding the compound.

The fact the world is not outraged by this is quite telling.

As I recall it was Iran that attacked the US embassy in Tehran. And then there was the Libyan incident against the US embassy, and Kenya too. Many more embassies I am sure, but terrorists don't obey the rules. The targetted general orchestrated the attack upon Israeli soil. So why should the world be outraged if there was retaliation by Israel?

Not unsettling, because it is true. The USA has third world shitholes on both borders. From western Iran to Israel would be a flight time of around 6 hours depending on flight path. Telling point will be when that swarm is about 2 hours from impact. If that is all that is launched this is a face saving attack for a domestic and regional audience. However, If the attack is intended to be serious rather than a demonstration, they will then launch cruise missiles with a flight time of around 5-600 mph. Fifteen to twenty minutes before they arrive, the Iranians would launch ballistic missiles with 15-20 minute flight time. The intent would be to overwhelm Israeli air defenses with a multi-level simultaneous attack. If that happens a significant number may get through. We'll know in a couple of hours.

Looks like UK and US air assets are in a coordinated defensive posture outside Israeli airspace (likely over Iraq) swatting down dozens of these slow movers. Still awaiting any confirmation with respect to cruise or ballistic launches.

I wonder if this changes the views of those that want to cut Israel off completely from any US provided arms.

In global politics the parties have gone complete opposites recently. Very vocal faction among Democrats are anti-Israel while supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.

At the same time a very vocal faction among the GOP are pro-Russian while still supporting Israel. I would have thought it would have been the Democrats supporting the Communists instead of the MAGA faction of the GOP. MTG was literally repeating Putin talking points today.
