Kennedy-Shanahan ticket anyone?

It will either be President Trump, or if he is somehow disqualified then President Kennedy. Biden/Harris or Newsome/whoever just won't be able to pull back the independents.

Fresh from the "You just can't make this shit up" department. Trump is selling Bibles to pay his legal bills. Gotta be good for a laminated all-access pass to heaven, doncha spose?
Oy,vey!
Only God know's a man's heart.

What an extraordinary revelation. I personally had not seriously considered that it was the NED that caused the vast majority of the Ukrainian population to turn on Russia, toss out a Kremlin puppet, embrace Western values, advocate for EU and NATO membership and fight the Russian Army to the death in Eastern Ukraine. Or perhaps not.
And again, I'm in no way a shill for Putin. I hate the fact he made the decision to invade, I hate it. It's horrible what the Ukrainians are going through right now. It's horrible we have to live in this position of being this close to yet another World War.

However, it's also not truthful to try and pretend like the US bears zero responsibility for the events that led up to the Civil War at a minimum. It's also not truthful to say we were as diligent as we could have been to ensure the post-Maidan Ukraine government was being as unprovocative as they could have been in regards to dealing with the separatists in the Donbass.

Even with those fumbles, I do still place the blame of the 2022 invasion on Putin.

@Scott CWO I also do not "trust" Russia. But I do not "hate" Russians. (Our Senator told us that he did....just last week). In fact, HE does not know any Russians. Or any Ukrainians for that matter. Some of the Russian speaking citizens of Ukraine (ya, the ones who's primary language was banned and believe that there was a US led coup in 2014) feel that THEIR future and the future of their children is being threatened every day by a little socialist dictator. (Imagine if we banned Spanish here in the USA...the Libs would riot) In any case, Russia is an indispensable enemy....as Daniel Ellsberg once said. Mostly White, mostly Christian, and without whom NATO would have no purpose. I'm not sure what terrified the Deep State more, Putin asking to join NATO a few years ago, or Trump threatening to defund it..............and perhaps many of you are too young to remember Rumsfeld saying that NATO would not expand "one inch further eastward". Yet it doubled in size during the calmer years of the 90's. My opinion differs from many here....but you are wrong if you believe that all people in Ukraine want what Zelenskyy and Joe want.....FWB

It is what I have heard from many Ukrainians at the outset of the invasion. The Zelensky government went out of their way to incite a hot response from Russia. Large swaths of the population were against this antagonising behaviour.

Now the point is moot of course and we should support the Ukrainians in their struggle.

Corey, Unfortunately you are correct. Our 3 letter agencies. Not just one. But usually 3 of them. And always 2.

Have been involved with many regime changes. And I’m having a hard time remembering one puppet they installed that didn’t bite us in the A$$.

3 in South America, one at least in Iran that lead to the current mess. Turkey and on and on.

And not all were violent coups. Most were. But some were outright election fraud.

I need to clarify my point. I think evil men exist in all countries. I don’t think anybody has a lock on evil or self promoting politicians and corrupt agencies.

And I’m sure there’s been some of those at the top of our three letter agencies, but the guys in the trenches that I have worked with, would never be involved with the killing of innocent women and children No matter how corrupt their leaders are.

Question for our maritime experts:
Any thoughts on the vessel losing power and control, hitting the bridge in front of Baltimore harbour?

I’ve seen a video with repeated power losses, and strong course corrections at or during those power losses. Is it envisageable that such a vessel could be “hacked” / controlled from a distance and its course modified?

If I read all of this Ukraine/ Russia, Israel/ Palestine, Trump/ Biden news I’m very glad I live in South Africa.

I bought a new Land Cruiser (diesel spill and rain wrote the other double cab off) and tomorrow I take the day off to shoot a young reedbuck for mince. Sunday after hanging the buck, my wife and I will mix it with some bushpig and beef brisket, lubricate ourselves with a Hendric’s and lime from our tree, and vacuum pack roughly 45kg of mince for the next few months…

I am not a maritime expert but have seen the videos showing the loss of power.

The simplest conclusions to me:

1. Power is lost. Ship tries to stop by deploying anchors. Port anchor slips. Starboard anchor catches hard and turns ship into piling while continuing to drag.

2. Power is lost. Wind is pushing ship toward the piling. After power is regained, Captain determines that his best bet is to steer hard to starboard to miss piling. Looses power again.

A hacker wanting to do the most damage would have been better served taking out the Chesapeake Bay Bridge 30 minutes later.

It will be interesting to find out if the harbor pilot was still in command of the ship or if he had returned control to the captain.

The current of the river may also be a factor.

Thanks to the ineptitude of a Cargo ship captain, Americans may face supply change issues, and increased costs to reroute cargo.
The price of stupidity.

@Brent in Az aren't you jumping to conclusions? Reports I have read stated Harbor Pilots, not the ship's Captain was in control. Also, other reports suggest this ship has a history of maintenance and safety issues. So in that regard, the ship's owners are responsible. Granted, if the ship is unsafe, the Captain should not let the ship leave the dock.

Like I said.... ineptitude. Captain, Harbor , pilot, owners, whoever

Someone should have said " Drop the anchor, stupid"

I saw Biden said the federal government was going to pay to rebuild the bridge. Why is the shipping companies insurance company not on the hook for it?

Pretty sure DOJ will go after the shipping company, their insurer and reinsurers for the cost.

Also pretty sure Baltimore and the companies inside the confines of the bridge will go after them for damages and loss of business.
