Yeah, working conditions were WAY better before workers got together to stand up for themselves.
Unions have ALWAYS been useless. Their primary purpose has never been to improve working conditions or pay for workers.

Marx stated many times the Trade Unions were to be training grounds for social revolution and schools for socialism.

Yep. After making the dough and expanding it kept flipping it until it expanded to the right size. Similar to the video below, I was in the front just in front of the oven where customers could see me doing it. It was a lot of fun. I was making $3.50/hr or so, above minimum wage - lol.

Clearly I never worked in a pizza shop. All I could envision was flying cheese, sauce and meats.

If corporations can be political and lobby in their best interests, why can’t unions?
Well, in very simple terms, corporations are responsible to their shareholders, whereas unions have a lock on dues from their members, whether those members agree with their lobbied causes or not.

Oh, on a completely different subject (and this is for everyone, not directed towards you), and just because I'm feeling pedantic on a Sunday morning: For gosh sakes, one TOES the line, one does not tow a line anywhere. I mean, it's right there, in pitch on the deck. You're not towing it anywhere!

Curious the thoughts of the petroleum industry experts in our discussion. Assuming the terminal is not severely damaged, what does that do to the price of crude?
Some on pm.

If it make you feel better I get just as pedantic, and in light of the fact that my writing skills pale in comparison to many here on the forum, when a post discusses securing the boarders.....it's BORDER not BOARDER for crying out loud!!

And I don’t disagree with you there, but let’s face it, not everyone is smart or good with their hands. So some people have to flip burgers or clean hotel rooms. I don’t expect them to be buying houses and driving a new car, but they should be able to cover rent and groceries.
No, minimum wage is what you have during, or just after High School, as others have already pointed out.

Anyone trying to pay for rent and groceries on minimum wage isn't that bright. To make a "Living Wage" you need a skill that is in demand, or move up to management, etc.

Plenty of Companies offer a STARTING wage over 2X minimum wage. They have apprenticeship programs for Heavy Diesel techs, HVAC techs, etc. The company I work for here in Ohio offers over $20 per hour starting pay, will train you from scratch to do the job, and within 2 years you can be making near $30 an hour. Much more is possible if you attend advanced training and work 3rd shift, etc.

Anyone that stays in a minimum wage job year after year deserves a minimum wage lifestyle.

Like I said, not everyone is handy. As an electrician, I’ve seen many electricians who have no business trying to work with tools. So telling people that they need to get into a trade isn’t always the answer because they aren’t for everyone. Some people are destined to be unskilled labour, that’s just the way it is.

Then they will have a working poor lifestyle, that's just the way it is.

You cannot expect anyone to pay an employee a wage higher than his actual value. To raise the minimum wage of a person that has little value to a company, either by union demand or government legislation, makes no logical sense, and is not sustainable.

Market forces will always see to it that a person of minimum value will earn a minimum wage.

On a different note, Here is an article.

It says something about Dems if Kamala is seen as a center leaning figure. :ROFLMAO:

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is receiving renewed attention as a potential 2028 presidential contender, as new polling and analysis suggest that Democratic voters may be more receptive to a pragmatic, center‑leaning figure than the party’s public image or internal rhetoric often implies.

Exactly, if you increase the minimum wage to a "living wage" then all impacted companies will also increase prices and then one is back to square one again.

Perfect example. A CA fast food worker makes $25/hr, why would they bother with training for a trade unless that trade would pay them $50/hr or more.

Hmm. I thought Trump might nominate her for US Ambassador to Zambia (she has relatives there you know) and that @spike.t would be an official Zambian emissary showing her the ropes? Might be a good fit? LOL

What was it the navy of yesteryear use to say? Prepare to repel all BOARDERS.

So is the Border Patrol repelling all BOARDERS at the BORDER?

Guilty, sometimes those fingers get ahead of the eyes and brain.

And now for @sestoppelman ’s pleasure, I love Bruno rifles

Seems like a chicken vs egg scenario that will be caught in a loop in continuum. Much like moving manufacturing back to America, if it happens, there will need to be an economic reset and that’s going to hurt

Repel yes, secure no.

Outlived the robber baron days for a while now.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
