I REALLY hope this isn't true, but a bunch of places are reporting it...

I can't fathom how Trump wants to take over Greenland due to the "Russian threat" and at the same time give legitimacy to Putin and Russia on international stage.

He definitely is On the Spectrum. Nothing else makes sense.

Why would we need to have Greenland when we already have a base there and can easily expand it with Denmark's blessing?

The Denmarks blessing part. I know it is easily obtained and they have been a great ally, but Europe hasn't exactly been the most proactive when it comes to defense.

We are not asking them to defend Greenland though. And due to Ukraine, Europe has been stepping up on defense especially since Trump has been waffling on Article 5 of NATO depending on his mood.

The USA has labelled both Canada and the EU as threats to their "National Security" in order to justify new duties declared by their military Commander-in-Chief on the international trade of steel and aluminum. So I suggest that USA made products such as firearms and ammunition should be sold exclusively within the USA so Canada and Europe can help our esteemed neighbour defend themselves and improve their national security. Sadly, I have come to the conclusion that Canadians and Europeans should make do with their own products exclusively. For all our AfricaHunting friends in Canada, Europe, Africa and elsewhere, please don't buy any American made products. Lets's support the USA in their concern. One can never be too careful when there are evil guys to deal with, and it is our duty to help, as always.
"...Canadians and Europeans should make due with their own products exclusively. "
Europeans? Meh...fat chance.
Canadians? Seriously?
No chance.

School me please , what is a night of camp David.
I guess it is due to english not being my first language that I dont understand the reference, but what does a "Night of Camp David" means?
"A Night of Camp David" is a rather remarkable novel written by Fletcher Knebel in 1965. He was also the co-author of "Seven Days in May." Both are still in publication and Camp David was on the NY Times Best Seller List for 18 weeks.

Without giving away the plot completely, it is the story of a young ambitious senator from Iowa who is summoned to Camp David to meet with his charismatic populist president who wants him to replace the current vice president, mired in scandal, as his running mate for his second term. The conversation gradually slips into a world where the president rants about his enemies and other issues. He erratically expresses his desire to develop a closer relationship between the United States and the USSR, and wants to cut ties with US allies in Europe. The president is convinced the news media and much of the party leadership are conspiring against him. The senator gradually concludes the president is mentally ill and dangerously paranoid.

To remind, this book was written in 1965. It is an excellent read that obviously has held up rather well.

Sooooo Knebel moonlighted as a prophet? ;)

Thanks for the share; I had not heard of it and am going to look into it. It sounds interesting.

I was looking for something to distract me from the news…..hmmm..….I don’t think this book will do that, but I have bought it anyways! Thanks

I guess we get 2 for 1 then.....LOL

Gimme a break. This thing has gotten ridiculous. The U.S is not going to invade Greenland. An act of war would require congressional approval, and thats not going to happen, nor should it.

So think of it this way, youve heard of Incirlik, " Turkey". where we have substantial, Nuclear weapons, and Turkey seems to be closer to Russia than NATO, given the fact they bought Russian s300 air defense systems ( wonder how they like em after their value added demo in Venz). And following that we refused their request for F35 jets because of the presumption they could share their operational capabilities with Russia. Things can change. LOOK at Minnesota a real nice example right here at home.

China wasn't even on those maps.

Reducing the US military presence on Greenland was purely a US choice. I'm sure the locals and Danes were delighted to have all that Cold War military activity on Greenland soil ... er ... ice. And until Trump shot his mouth off, I'm sure they would have been delighted to see it return = infusion of $$$. Why does Trump think he needs to take over Greenland to make it a strategic outpost? Same treaty is in place since 1950. So we should make all those Greenlanders Americans so we can pay for their welfare rather than let the Danes pay for it? Building up US defense network on Greenland won't be cheaper if it's taken over by US. It will be more expensive. And I fail to see how it would be more "secure." This all about Trump wanting to do something grandiose. Why doesn't the Forest Service just give him a mountain somewhere to carve his face on. That should keep him busy for a couple of years and out of America's hair. Then the next administration can blow it up. Sell tickets to watch. The revenue would make a huge dent in the national debt. :D
Quote from the article:

"If Russia or China were to fire intercontinental ballistic missiles at the U.S., many would likely cross over Greenland..."

To your list of sins we shall add "illiteracy".

Of course, the maps also show where Greenland sits in relation to US approaches, and if you know anything at all about China's claim to be a "near Arctic power", the strategic implications should be obvious. I can also see China right there on Map 6, it doesn't even have to be labeled.

But that would require critical thinking skills.

Turkey has historically always been a flaky ally ... for anyone and everyone: Germany, Russia, Armenia, Kurds, Russians, etc., etc. Comparing Denmark to Turkey is just silly.

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
