It is getting worse by the hour.. First, he does not comprehend that the norwegian government do not decide who gets the Nobel Prize..The Nobel Comittee make decisions indipendently from the state. Our prime minister has told him so several times, but he refuse to listen and play this politically. Today our prime minister uttered that talking to Trump is futile..

Secondly, there are no chinese or russian ships circling Greenland.. There is no imminent threat against Greenland...this is something he continues to dream up to fit his narrative..

The mind boggles..how long should he be allowed to rant on like this before the republican party/Congress stop him..??

The ability of absolute Trump supporters to look the other way or attempt to rationalize what he does is every bit the same thing as those who supported Biden or any other Democrat, and every bit as frustrating. It would be nice if the same standard was applied to all. I for one don’t believe all of this with Greenland is bluster or trying to make a deal, and I look forward to the day when we have someone in the White House that acts like an adult and has a modicum of decorum.

I know he isnt shitting gold, it was an analogy. But even the good stuff he does you spin it as him being immature or narcissistic and we get it. You are consistent in your opinions.

I dont like how he is going about Greenland, I think it is dumb and is pissing a lot of people off.

However, what I read (and sorry I dont have the source) but the artic provides a gap in any golden dome type of defense, this in combation with Chinese "research" subs being in the artic, and ice caps limiting some detection capabilities leaves us in a blind spot. Though not a need at the moment, it does have long term strategic value. Saying Russian or Chinese submarines arent circling or invading Greenland now is a bit misleading to the strategic value.

Do I think he is being an asshole, yes, do I think he is wrong about the strategic need for us having Greenland, no.

The Chinese threat to US security via Greenland is absurd. Anyone who looks at a map can figure that out. Maybe Trump needs to annex Mars for the same reason? His grasp of geography is no better than his background in history or economics or science. So stupid he actually believed he could run for a third term. Or maybe he just thought the Constitution doesn't apply to him. Sad thing is the Supreme Court seems to be supporting that vision of himself. His crusade against vaccinations makes about as much scientific sense as his cure for autism. Or drinking disinfectant to cure COVID. His tarrif on aluminum made no sense for a country that doesn't have the resources (either bauxite, cryolite, or sufficient electricity) to make what it needs. And it needs lots of aluminum for national defense. But wait ... aren't we supposed to be concerned about national security? Isn't that what the Greenland grab is all about? The countries who export bauxite to US get slapped with big tarrifs on their aluminum products. So they just compensate by hiking the price of ore they're selling to US. Or just stop selling to the US altogether. How does that help the economy ... or keep the vital aircraft industries going?

If the troops, and to the President we are all essentially the troops (voters if you must), think for a second that an officer or senior enlisted received anything extra, a perk, the conspiracy theories would begin. Leaders inspire others to greatness but it’s hard to inspire if the troops think you are not honest question.

A few months at Parris Island and/or Quantico would have instilled integrity in Trump. Lack of military service is the problem.

Reducing the US military presence on Greenland was purely a US choice. I'm sure the locals and Danes were delighted to have all that Cold War military activity on Greenland soil ... er ... ice. And until Trump shot his mouth off, I'm sure they would have been delighted to see it return = infusion of $$$. Why does Trump think he needs to take over Greenland to make it a strategic outpost? Same treaty is in place since 1950. So we should make all those Greenlanders Americans so we can pay for their welfare rather than let the Danes pay for it? Building up US defense network on Greenland won't be cheaper if it's taken over by US. It will be more expensive. And I fail to see how it would be more "secure." This all about Trump wanting to do something grandiose. Why doesn't the Forest Service just give him a mountain somewhere to carve his face on. That should keep him busy for a couple of years and out of America's hair. Then the next administration can blow it up. Sell tickets to watch. The revenue would make a huge dent in the national debt.
