Way off topic of hunting Africa, but does anyone know if a good pheasant guide? I have been wanting to hunt South Dakota pheasants for years and am looking into booking a hunt for next year! Thanks!

We hunted with Triple H out of Colome SD in 2014 and had a blast. They want big groups 8-10 people. But they have houses to stay in and food is also included. Super good times.

Bird dog adventures, I haven’t hunted with them but the guys I know that have loved them.

Might wait to book until you see what the hatch is like if your hunting wild birds. Some years the number of huntable birds is only 50% of a good year. The G@F for both ND and SD do forecasts ahead of time. Pick a year with a good hatch for best hunting.

I live in Minnesota and agree totally with what gillettehunter said. The Dakotas are awesome but not what they used to be. If you for sure want birds look into an outfitter with private. You can usually get a couple diff birds also. Chucker, Hungarian partridge, etc. Otherwise roll the dice but it can be a huge crap shoot. Best of luck on whatever you decide.

I have hunted at Day Break Ranch many times over the years, it is the finest pheasants I have ever experienced by a wide margin.

If you are close to northern Oklahoma in October we release about 150 pheasants for a pointing lab trial. We do cleanup hunts for about three weeks or until the hawks/coyotes get them. P.m. me if you want to know more.

I can’t help you with South Dakota but I’ve got very good wild Quail and can do release bird pheasant here in Texas.

I’d like to go to Minnesota and hunt ruffed grouse!

I’ve always wanted to hunt woodcock somewhere. Something about that seems fun.

I’m from Pennsylvania originally and about 1 June till the middle of September we would go up in the evening and shoot woodchucks. They call them groundhogs back there. I would take my 243 or 22 250 and we would have a good time shooting at them at about 300-450 yards, a lot of fun.

Man that’s sounds like a fun hunt there! I would love one day to take my pointer griffons out to see how they would do!

Did Cheyenne Ridge last year and going to Browns hunting ranch this year. SD pheasant hunting is great fun, pick a reputable place and you’ll love it.

I hunt SD almost every year, and I hunt around Winer, SD. Heard that the hatch this year is great one, and much, much better than the one last years. Good luck to you, and hope to read a hunt report.

It doesn't appear to bother anyone here Larry.

Hell! I am liable to break into a story about where to get a good burger in Maine when someone is talking about shoot Dik-Diks........and rumor has it they are close friends of the Woodcock's.

You could give Hutch's Guide Service a try. I've only ever fished with him, but I know he has some good hunting areas too. Some day maybe I'll do a cast and blast with him, that sounds like a good time.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
