Pet peeves?

For the 2018 season, I'll be carrying a whip....
I suppose I should be thankful for the heads up.

After the hunt people are going to be a bit surprised when I explain the truth about bruises and welts not being from tree branches and such.

trying to book a trip with your favoured outfitter/ph to find he has no spaces  when I can travel

So, is my new hunting gear going to piss a few PH's off?

A Whip, Short Blue Shorts and a Lone Ranger Mask, Interesting, How soon Can I book

I bought a new Win 70 SE .375 H&H. It's a fine rifle fit for a good hunt. I've acquired a few boxes of 300 grain TSX, but haven't fired any. I'm not positive I can handle the recoil quite yet.

Pet peeve? Just when stuff gets in the way of my first trip. Nothing kills the Africa Hunt Fund like a back surgery.

Pet peeve #1
On a long stalk in open ground you slowly and tentatively go through a thorn thicket doubled over to avoid detection .
Looking back to see where your great white hunter is .... you see he's not interested in ducking through the thicket but has rather just walked around it, standing upright in open ground Glassing ...

Leaving me full of scratches and thorns , like I enjoy being scratched and making me wonder if he thought that I only went through there to fulfill my obsessive compulsion to be scratched up.
To add insult to injury the game will spot us and be moving off.
Then it's the guides fault ....
Lol

High powered rifles.

The beloved phrase used by the media in association with hunters and hunting.

WTF is a high powered rifle.

As far as I'm concerned my rifles have no power unless a cartridge is inserted into the chamber.
They are just assemblies of wood and metal.

The power comes from the cartridge and the explosion of gunpowder.

The rifle is merely an instrument used to propel a bullet to a desired location.

Why does the media seem obsessed with 'high powered rifles' for hunting.
Why can't they say 'high velocity projectile'?

Drunks, people who for some pathetic reason can't enjoy a cocktail or two, they have to finish the bottle. The person who can't stop after they start drinking. They're certain that they don't have a problem. They take pride in the fact that they can finish a bottle and still stand. They make no apologies for their actions because they live in a state of denial refusing to accept the possibility that their actions are socially unacceptable.
