Packing clothes in rifle Case

1st trip I used United/SA airlines. 2nd trip I used Delta/SA airlines. Both trips I used an Alum rifle cases that had 2 pieces of foam on each half of the case when open. I took one piece out of each side and laid my camos in as well as a couple of other clothes. Then place one piece of foam on top of them and then the rifles. Never had a problem. On the return trip I put some Ginnia(sp) fowl feathers in the clothes and a couple of porcupine quills. Went right thru without troubles.
The 2nd trip I used a gun service since my daughter did not go making it easier if I needed to leave my luggage for a few min. Coming into Joberg they did not even look at my rifles/ammo or cases. That surprised me but I did not complain. I guess it pays to use a gun service

Yes I hired the gun service to greet me in Johannesburg. Make things a lot simpler for my first time. And I also called them on the clothes in gun Case. It was a hard no as well .

Funny. When I take more than one rifle I use a Tuffpak, and I always put as much other stuff in there as I can. It works better that way - clothing provides the padding to make sure the rifles don't move around in the case. I have always taken Air Canada as my first leg, and I have never had an issue. When security wants to look at the rifles, I take them out - they are in a Tuffpak bag in the case - and show them, and then stow everything back in. Same in Africa.

I've used KLM and SAA. No issues with clothes in the Tuffpack. I use their bag to keep everything together. Works great.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
