Where does a hunter go for inspiration while in New York?

My Brother works in Manhattan, meeting up
With him for dinner… I brought 6 nice Napa wines. Staying 5 days.

I walked from Port Authority to Times Square through Central Park to American Museum of Natural History…

Heading to Intrepid next…

9,000 Steps so far…

More to come.

From the title, that was exactly what my destination would be - Museum of Natural History

Did you ever get y’all a fishing trip up?

Looks like you found a good way to spend a day in NYC.

I need to go back to NYC soon. I’ve always enjoyed that city as a tourist. Someone smarter than me, are most of those mounts Teddy and Kermit’s still?

A shame there is no longer a holland and holland showroom in manhattan.

add to your list -

The explorers club, it is private - but if you knock, sometimes the door opens and they will give you a tour.

The history of that organization is incredible and some amazing artifacts not seen by many will be there for you to see.

Just off Madison Ave on the upper east side. I hope you get to see it.

Too bad the old Abercrombie & Fitch store is no longer there. It closed in 1977.
(I never had the chance to go)

The Museum of Natural History was good.

Beretta has a store there:

If the hunter is also a fisherman, you can book a striper trip:

(No endorsement expressed, nor implied)

I have a friend ("Hank the Yank"), who is a fishing guide, who is from the NYC area. (He guides in GA now)

The water in the Hudson River is clean enough for stripers now.

(maybe the Clean Water Act of 1972, maybe because many American companies, ultimately, just want to "do the right thing," - probably some of both)

So NYC is not a total loss after all....

It's a total loss, but if you have to be there, you have the ability to make it interesting.

I cannot think of any reason that I could be forced to go into New York City again, but if it should happen, I know where I'm going!

Day 3:

No trophies observed… We did see many Canis lupus familiaris, which warms my heart as I’m a dog guy!

Spent the day with my brother. Started with visiting his new office at 270 Park Ave. An amazing building and one of the biggest in New York. We hit his favorite food cart on a side street outside his building for a breakfast sandwich. Surprisingly good. Got a brief tour of the building.

I actually enjoy taking the bus and walking as well as riding the subway.

I could not be prouder of my younger brother considering where we come from and where he has gotten too. We prescribe to a “hard work and never giving up mentality” and that certainly has served us both well.

We put in a couple miles in on our way up Park Ave and looping back down Madison Ave to the Guggenheim.

After the museum we headed downtown for a slice of Pizza At Joe’s.

Then off to The World Trade Center memorial and One World Tower.

Words can’t describe the feeling you have visiting that memorial…

After reflecting we headed up to the Observatory:

It’s hard to describe the view from the 100th floor. Spectacular comes to mind….

Off to Capital Grill for Steaks and Wine!

Capital Grill did not disappoint.

I brought 6 bottles of Napa wine to enjoy with my brother and his wife during my stay. We had the Caymus with our first couple courses while George opened up in the decanter.

The food and service at Capital Grill was amazing.

Mack had aged Ribeye and I had the Filet. Both were Porcini encrusted with balsamic reduction and cooked to perfection!

After dinner we walked around a little bit downtown and saw a new show that was being filmed for Netflix outside a restaurant… Got 8 1/2 miles in for the day. Needed it to offset that dinner…
