New Member/First safari August 2017

Welcome to the forum sir! All the best with your safari. I have no doubt that you will have a great time with Cruisers.
We look forward to some great photos.

Take Care,
Marius Goosen

Welcome to AH. Sounds like a grand hunt.

Welcome to AH!

For all the above mentioned game would my 30-06 with 168 grain Nosler Partitions do the trick?

Your combination will do the job on all of them. Will it do the job on an Eland, sure. Is it the best option for the Eland, probably not. You would just need to choose your shot well, and try and get nice and close. Personally, I would rather look at the Accubond instead of the Partition.

Welcome to AH. I started using 220g 30-06 bullet the last season, was impressed with the preformance.

Welcome aboard! Best of luck and look forward to the report

Welcome to AH! You're going to have a grand hunt I'm sure. Please share pics and report with us dreamers.

Welcome, my two sons and I hunted with Cruiser Safaris last August. FANTASTIC!!!! If you can, get Hans for your PH. He has 17 years experience as a PH, and eyes like an eagle. Loosen your belt and enjoy Del Marie's cooking.

10/4 I will look into some accubonds. Thanks for the direction!

Fantastic, congrats on a great hunt. When my boys are older I plan on taking them as well. Did you guys take anything for Malaria prevention? I've read Limpopo is a high risk area, although August is a low risk month in Africa.

Welcome to AH Texas-LTH! Good to have you with us.

Welcome to AH sir! Have a great hunt.

Texas TLH, Your 168s would be just fine for the Impala. Your other three animals are rather large critters, especially the Eland. Using 180 Gr. premium bullets i.e. Barnes TSX, Nosler Accubonds or Partitions on broadside shots will do the trick although they are far from optimal. Heavier bullets would be better, but by comparison have the trajectory of a rock. Of the 22 animals we took only the Wart Hogs were +/- 50 yards. Most shots were between 150 and 220 yards. Start practicing with shooting sticks, you will be expected to use them in Africa. You will be asked to identify which animal is highest on your list prior to departure. If you have a "minimum" size for that animal, make sure your PH knows it. Your best flight option is Delta from ATL to O R Tambo, If possible spend a few extra bucks on the Economy Comfort seats. Stay at the Afton House, They will pick you up at the airport, offer you a grilled steak dinner for $25.00 provide you with a comfortable room and a good breakfast the next morning. One or two PHs from Cruiser will be at the Afton House waiting for you. After supper you can relax at the small cocktail lounge the Afton House offers and chat with the PHs. This is a very good place to "break the ice." If you forgot anything (hunting related) ask them to stop at Safari & Outdoors on the way to the ranch. They stock everything you ever dreamed of and a lot more. One last thing, although not a requirement but a strong recommendation is to use riflepermits.com to help you clear your firearm(s) through SAPS. Believe me you will be glad you did.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
