Me being grumpy...

...this week I should have been in SA hunting eland and kudu with my lever action .500 S&W Magnum. Thanks to the virus, I'm still in Colorado working on my trophy room and shooting packrats out of my garden with a suppressed .22.

id feel sorry for you if your gun was a 500 S&W HANDGUN,NOT A rifle!!!good luck on your hunt anyway when it happens.

Sigh. Would have just returned from the Kamchatka.

It’s a shame al round, not just the hunting seen but I understand your disappointment.
I got my first trip in January this year and not planning anything but I still want an Australian Water Buffalo, other than budget it is 3000km from home.

Where is that what would you hunt for this time?
The Kamchatka Peninsula in easternmost Russian Siberia for Russian Brown bear. Was bringing my R8 with synthetic stock configured as a .375. (y) We will try again next year.

Today would have been the last day of my Cape Buffalo and PG hunt in the Deka region of Zimbabwe and tomorrow my Bride and I would have started a 8 day tour of Victoria Falls and Chobe staying at 4 and 5 star accomodations. Something nice for me, something nice for her. I purchased a Krieghoff Big 5 in .470 NE with an RMR, a R8 Safari stock, a J Sips .458 Lott barrel and a Leupold 1-5 scope w/CDS as well a a new Els leather cartridge belt for this trip. Instead, I am getting lots of target practice with my Browning T-bolt in .22 WRM on squirrels that are destroying my wife's flower bulbs. Re-booked for May 2021 so all is not lost. Will be able to afford more PG by then so the delay is not all bad. Will hunt deer in CT and moose/caribou in Newfoundland this fall so focus is changed. Praying that at 75, health holds.

I’d love to see a pic of that rifle. Lever actions are my favourite!

I posted photos of the Krieghoff in "Engraver Kathrin Noon". Don't have photos if the R8 or Browning. None of these are lever actions.

I would right now be in the Timbavardi as backup and camera guy for a buddy's elephant hunt, then some plains game in limpopo.

Hopefully soon we will all be back in the bush.

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.
