Mauser action .375

Can someone supply me with a bit of history on this recent purchase of mine?

The information i have seen on the gun is as follows

serial number : 2664
Bohler rasant .375 H&H magn

I unfortunately (because of no experience) did not think to take pictures of the action on the other side.

your inputs will be greatly appreciated

Action made by DWM Berlin Germany,

Austrian proofmarks on the barrel January 1983, probably Ferlach, same on action.

Better picture would be helpfull.

Proofsign NPF is Ferlach, NPW is Vienna.

Trigger, trigger guard and crossbolt look like from a military rifle...

Soldered claw mount "Suhler style" with half rings.

Original 3-position safety changed to a 2-position because of low scope mount....

Because you already bought the gun, I think you should not think any longer about the price you payed ....

I know something about prices in Germany or Austria, but this will not really help you.

The gun is a Mauser M98, well made in a classic caliber,

When you do your job, the right answer to everything you can be faced in Africa.

The most importent thing of a gun is accuracy.

To hit a tennis ball reliably at 100 m/yard from the bench is fine.

Otherwise you should change the ammunition, or go to the reloading bench or improve your skills.

What I miss at this rifle are iron sights!

A rifle equipped with a detachable scope does only make sense, when there are iron sights, you can use in the case of emergency.

Especially on an "African Rifle", where you can have "close combat" a must!
