Which is easier to see in low light, a white bead or a fiber optic? FO is great with some light, but not sure about low light, and I don't have an FO sights currently.

Fiber still picks up a fair amount of light, even in low light. Spending a few bucks and have your gunsmith make you a gold bead is also a option, just saying.

My 2¢, FO green front, red rear.

Unless you are putting it on a fine double rifle FO is brighter (still brighter on a fine double - but damn!)

My 2¢, FO green front, red rear.

I went the opposite on my .416

I’ve got a green FO rear ghost ring.. and a front red..

Fast and easy to pick up if there is any light available at all..

So you have the NECG FO Standing Leaf and a FO Bead?

Ill pull the rifle out of the safe and get some pics up later today..

I suppose the sights COULD be fragile.. but that hasnt been my experience so far..

even if you lost the fiber while on a hunt, the sights would still work (you would still have the leaf or ghost ring in place.. you would just lose the illumination source.. and the front sight post would still be there, to include the metal frame that goes around the fiber.. so you could still hunt...)...

And replacing/changing fiber is easy and super inexpensive.. if for some reason I were to loose my green fiber for example on my rear sight, or if I just wanted to change it to another color.. its literally about a 2 minute job.. and brownells carries replacement fibers (so do many other places)...

So far I am a big fan..

Psychologically, warm colors come to the fore, and cool colors recede. Not sure how that plays out in fiber optic sights. Red rear sight puts the colors in a natural order. Red front sight gets attention as it should.

some pics of the fire sights on my M98 416 Taylor

I'm going to try an NECG FO bead on my Ruger #1 and see how I like it.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
