I am looking for recommendations for a wild lion hunt. RSA is out for obvious reasons. If I were to go to Zimbabwe I would hunt with Buzz and CMS again, so recommendations for a Zimbabwe outfitter is not needed. Though, after two years in a row in Zimbabwe I would like to try other countries.

The lion has to be importable to USA. I am looking at 2023 or 2024 as my dance card for this year is full with 68 days already scheduled for out of the country. If we can include a tuskless that we can use for bait it would be great, but I am open to anything for that.

Thanks in advance.

You could look into Jamy Traut safaris area in Kalahari in Namibia. I know their quota changes from year to year, but may be a very good option for a tracking wild lion hunt. Also very good gemsbok and eland there and a few other species. If I hunt with them again, it would be next area I’d visit and focus on eland.

Mwatisi in Tanzania.

The number of cats is stunning.

What about Lion in CAR? I think Alain did a tracking hunt for wild lion a year or so ago.

Aren't tuskless only available in Zim?

I may be mistaken but I don't think they are importable.

I'm headed to Maswa in Tanzania with Mike Fell in 2023. Not sure if they are full yet for 2024.

Tanzania IMO. No tuskless but u can add an Ele for ~10k either way. The lion trophy fee will be large and the mane likely relatively small.

Don’t overlook Richard Bell-Cross in Zambia. He has Lunga Luswishi, which is in the Kafue region. He has an excellent area for both Lion & Leopard. Great area, great PH, all around Good Guy.

I’m glad to hear something on him. I hunted with him for plains game in 2006 and had a great hunt. It was an amazing area at time, hopefully still is.

Tanzania gets my vote.

Maswa lions can often be taken in the daytime without bait.

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
