The scene takes place in Zambia National Park South Langwa . These images were taken by an amateur photographer from Eastbourne , who works for Shenten Safaris as a guide.

Hungry and sick, this lion was forced to desperately attacking a buffalo to survive. Follows a long battle that will leave both bloodied animals, exhausted and mortally wounded .
Six years old , that hungry lion visibly suffering from mange, a skin disease .

Two days later , the lion succumbed to his injuries , and the carcass of the dead buffalo infection was found after two weeks . Mr. Armstrong adds: "I have never seen such a fight before."

Incredible images, thanks for sharing bebo!

Wow, thanks for sharing!

Feel sorry for the poor lion, someone should have put a bullet in his head to end all that suffering !

Wow that's an epic battle

WOW

Thanks for sharing the photos. Pretty incredible.

would love to be there and heard the grunts and groans of this scuffle.
sad and pain full ending for both

Such a pity the King had to go like that. I really felt sorry for the lion. Someone should have put an end to his suffering.

That should be required viewing for all anti-hunters who think that hunting is cruel and nature is all peaceful and disney-like.

That last photo should be in the AH photo contest.

Life doesn't get any more real than that photo.

Pity he was unhuntable. I have room in my house for a lion with mange.

The struggle of life...

Man, that is real.

Wow great photos, thanks for sharing!!

imagine the crap mother natures facebook page will cop over this ..........
once some anti ,gets their grubby little mitts on it .......

A lot of talk is done about the warrior spirit. This is the definition of a warrior spirit on both ends. The look on that lion's face in the last picture tells the whole story. What an amazing post. Thank you

Nature is brutal - fight to try to survive to the last moment. Wow.

The last picture of the lion, beaten and dying, is probably the most powerful picture I have ever seen. Amazing...

Wow, incredibly moving images!
Even in defeat, there is dignity in a warriors death.

They went down fighting, nature at it's most rawest.

Nature at its rawest.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.
