I purchased this fine rifle from AH regular JMJ888 in fall of 2024. At the time I was planning on a buffalo hunt in the future, but have ruled that out now, and am putting the rifle back on the market. I did not fire the rifle. From Jim’s original post (pics included):

Left Hand CRF New Haven Winchester M70
23.5” Brux Stainless 1 in 12 twist barrel #5 contour
NECG adjustable rear sight and masterpiece banded front sight with red bead
Talley bases opened to 8-40 screw holes
Secondary recoil lug
Jewell trigger set at 2lbs - adjustable up or down as desired.
Williams 1 piece bottom metal
NECG Barrel mounted sling stud
All metalwork completed by John Farner in NM.
Cerakoted black on all metal work.

I fired about 7 rounds through it when it was in the original factory wood stock with no bedding for sight in and accuracy. Easily held 1” with 300gr factory Barnes TSX at 100yds.

After that I was able to talk Darcy Echols into ordering two of his Legend McMillan stocks as left handed flat tops and sent one off with the metalwork to Chad Dixon at LRI in Sturgis. They CNC inlet the metal into the stock and used their pillar bedding process which creates one of the prettiest bedding jobs I’ve seen. They also inlet a rear sling stud, painted the stock Magpul FDE with black speckles and finished it over a 1” red Decelerator. Length of pull is 14.75” as it sits now and right at 9lbs on my scale.
Anybody that has handled the Echols stocks knows it’s one of the best feeling/fitting synthetic stocks made. I have not fired it since I got it back from LRI and would like to see it go to a good home.

$5000 plus shipping to your FFL. Will ship in a hard case. Local pickup can be arranged in the Seattle area. Jim gave me permission to tag him in this post, as he was the one who had the rifle built and can better answer questions regarding the rifle (Thank you Jim!)

Total package rifle in my humble opinion. Hard to further embellish on what's in it. That's an example of the "One Gun" for me. Good luck to buyer and seller!

I should’ve mentioned that I am firm on the price. I’m thinning out the herd of rifles in my safes, but it won’t hurt my feelings if I have to end up keeping this one. It really is a beautiful rifle.

I’ve said that 1000 times, only the other way around.

Hi Hyde,

I’m reserving my hunting budget for a May/June ‘26 safari. However, upon conclusion, if the balance will cover it, I’ll be in touch. I think this is exactly what I’m looking for in a rugged package to withstand a lot of future trips to Africa. I commute through Seattle routinely via SeaTac. I’ll be in touch if it doesn’t sell prior.

Beautiful!!!!!!! I already have my 'one gun' and can't shoot two at a time....lol. My 'one and done' is a Mod 70 in similar configuration/caliber to your's, just different vendors..........absolutely love it.

Like you, I'm thinning the herd a bit also. Tempted to right the check, but not likely. All the best and good luck with the sale........Lee
