I have been holding on to this brochure since 1976 when I was 14 years old!

This is Kenya which closed in 1977

Check out the day rates and trophy fees

$477.00 for a Black Rhino
$1,200 for Lion

Can you imagine?

WOW!!.....Had I seen this back then I'd been hunting Africa since '74-75.

Thanks for sharing. You should frame this and hang it in your trophy room.

I wish I had time machine, to go there and then, and hunt

Looks like lion was a $900 trophy fee with a $298 license fee and rhino was a $2000 trophy fee with a $477 license fee. Adjusted for inflation still crazy cheap compared to today

Seems to me those prices don’t track with annual inflation rate.

Yep that would be $14K for a black rhino and $8K for Masai male lion when adjusted for inflation.
+ $2K daily fee.

So daily fee seems to reasonably track but that’s about it.

Bongo adjust for inflation is $1,700!

Buffalo $950!

So for $55K you could go on a 15day Safari and take…
Black Rhino
Male Lion
Bongo
Buffalo

Unreal. Supply and demand I guess. Goes to show how wealthy people have gotten in the last 50 years or so. Generally speaking. Along with population growth I guess

It’s interesting by the year 2000, I was involved in relocating a family unit of elephant from Laikipia Plateau to Tsavo which they note in this brochure was one the better areas for elephant. Hard to believe what 20 years of no hunting did to Tsavo. Kenya really knew/know how to screw their animal resources. Though today Tsavo now seems to have a population of 17,000 and growing.

Some of its supply and demand. So of it is ph’s know that people will pay. I posted before how a man that ones a **NOT**PERMITTED** talked about how in the 80’s he could fly to Alaska and kill a monster moose for 2k then the prices went through the roof he asked the guides and they said.
“ you can do 20 clients at 2-3k and have to make meals and find animals for each or you can do 10 clients at 10k or 5 at 20k .. less work overall and more money and they knew there are enough that will pay”

Looks like you have to do a 35 day safari to include a rhino.

Auto type got some of that . The man owned a **NOT**PERMITTED**… not the “not permitted”…

I just realized it’s censoring my words lol

I am so glad that I posted this fellas! I knew you would enjoy it:)

Our bicentennial year and in Kenya!

What an amazing time and place to be in Africa

Wild, free-ranging Black Rhino...hard to believe

And yes, I wonder why leopard costs more than lion?

Ok so for a 35 day Safari with 1x1 PH + Buffalo, Leopard, Male Lion & Black Rhino = $97,443.88

Not seeing a price for Elephant & Hippo but the brochure says "All animals in the big 5"
It also says that transport to and from airport and hotel are included.

Oh no, my arm! Stop twisting!
Right!

It’s Kenya I thought your supposed to just poach the elephants lol

This is awesome! It should definitely be framed.
