Wishing everyone a Happy 2018 from Southeast Texas. Life long Texan that has always enjoyed outdoors in the field or on the water. I have never considered the possibility of making a trip to Africa except for the last couple of years.

A close friend of mine has made several trips and hearing his stories and experiences have started the fire. His first instruction was to spend time on AH to learn and review its content. Would like to say time well spent. Hats off to all for such a fantastic web site and enjoying all of the entries. Keep up the good work.

Within the near future and planning, I hope to make a trip of a lifetime. My first biggest hurdle has been cleared. The wife has gave here blessing! Let the planning begin.

Welcome! I see you are in Friendswood, aka, south Houston. The Houston Safari Club expo is the last week of January and this year they have moved from the Woodlands to downtown at the George R. Brown Convention Center (considerably cutting the distance for you!). I am moving back to Houston in a few days and will likely go to the expo. Several other Houston area guys on AH too and some are discussing finding a nearby watering hole to meet.

Welcome aboard David. Lots, and lots and lots of Texans here. Grab a "Lone Star" (yuck) and join the fun. There are much better beers, but no better company. If you like to hunt, shoot, reload etc. you have "fallen in amongst thieves." I'm not a Texan, just married to one. I'm beginning to think that "agreeing" to let their husbands hunt Africa is part of their DNA. Sometimes they even go along.
