How many countries offer the truly wild African hunting experience

I am aware that a lot of African places are perimeter wired and I don`t care for them personally no matter whether they are 50,000 acres or more. I am only asking re 'truly wild African action'
Old style hunting on foot with trackers etc and plain Jane tented accommodation without the million dollar camp and pool to come back too.
Who around offers this style of completely wild hunting for the big boys of Africa?

I guess each one of us has our own definition of true wild Africa. If you are talking about DG I would look into the following:

Everyplace, but RSA for DG. Botswana you have to pick as they allow game farming at places.

However, a lot of places have established camps with huts rather than tents.

I have had truly wild hunts in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Mozambique. The wildest places were the upper Luangwa valley in Zambia, and NG43 in Northern Botswana. I’ve never been able to stomach the price tag of Tanzania, but it sounds absolutely awesome. This is not intended to be a comprehensive list, just my observations.

You should know that the type of uninhabited wilderness we enjoy in Alaska and Northern Canada simply does not exist in Africa.

One other thing to consider is what is your budget? For about $15K or so you can hunt a tuskless elephant or a cape buffalo in Zimbabwe "in the wild". Tanzania is more, Zambia probably about the same if not a tad more.

I've been fortunate to hunt the Zambezi Valley Zimbabwe and Niassa Province Mozambique. When the PH tells you to stay in your tent or hut at night, when the camp staff escorts you to bed, until they get you in the morning, you know you are in wild Africa. Lions roaming through camp. Leopards climbing the fence into the skinning / meat shed. Baboons sleeping in the trees above you at night. Jackals and Hyenas yapping at sundown. I hope to get to the Caprivi strip and Zambia at some point in my future.

@Tanks Agreed. It's getting absurd for boat based brown bear - Admiralty Island about $35k per person - I would rather go to Tanzania for two buffalo.

Nathan has wild areas in Tanzania for sure.

The Niassa Reserve in northern Moz is wild and open with lots of cats.

I am headed to the Kasonso GMA in Zambia in 2022 with Ntengu Safaris and they have it all.

Why wouldn't you be able to have an old style hunt on 50,000+ acres? Or even less? That's 78 sq. miles. You could walk someone to death on a property half that size. I guess for DG it might not be a realistic to expect all of the big deadly stuff on a property that size in any real numbers but for everything else....

If you're after DG then I think even the non african experienced like me know that pretty much every country except SA offer this style of hunt in spades. Though I believe I've read that it's even possible in SA in limited quantities.

Just curious as to what you think of a place like the BVC in Zim? 900,000 fenced acres with a handful of camps and nicer digs, but with many critters who wouldn't think twice about punching your time card early.

No offense intended. I just find it interesting to hear what some people think about large fenced properties. For example, sometimes I wonder about people who badmouth plainsgame hunts on fenced 20,000+ acres like it's unsporting. From what I've seen or heard most people don't get too far away from the vehicle anyways when hunting PG.

Maybe I'm just bored as hell???

My two favorite wild places are the Coutada's of Mozambique's Zambezi Delta and the Caprivi in Namibia. In the former, I can highly recommend Grant Taylor's Mashambanzou Safaris https://www.mashambanzousafaris.com/, and if the latter, then Jamy Traut is superb https://jamyhunts.com/. If I were going to spend three to four weeks hunting multiple dangerous game species, then Tanzania is the logical choice. I have not yet done that but when I do it will be with Harpreet Brar and Rungwa Safaris https://www.rungwasafaris.com/hunting/index.html or Rainer Josch focussing on his mountain buffalo http://www.rainerjosch.com/en/about-us/. Zim and Zambia can offer equally challenging environments. Another option is central Namibia. There one hunts low fence cattle ranches for native species. I have no problems with RSA game ranches. I think they get people into African hunting, kind of a gateway drug .

The difference between game ranches and let's say the wild areas is that at game ranches the PH knows exactly where the shootable animals are (as they are managed), and in the true wild areas it takes a bit more planning on the PHs part and some luck for sure and maybe even more time to get the animal one wants.

If I want a cape buffalo at 47+ inches all I have to do is cut a check in RSA. In Tanzania that would take some time and luck. People looking at the trophies won't know the difference, but I would.

Now, in regards to captive bred lions, that is another story. I think if the lions are bred without human contact then I have no problem with them being released somewhere and hunted. But the other day I was at an RSA outfitters web site and looking at their promotional videos. I couldn't believe what I saw. They shot a female and later a male lion. In both cases the lions saw them, one of them was even on the dirt road. Both of them were sauntering towards the hunters, obviously not threatened and maybe were even expecting food. That's killing, not hunting.

Who believes that he still hunt in Africa in an intact environment and according to old traditions , may like to continue dreaming.

Nevertheless , for business reasons , the myth is still maintained with beautiful pictures of sunrises over an open savannah , herds of animals passing by , beautiful camps and hunters with family sitting at the table with a glass of whiskey and enjoying the sunset. I would also do it this way if I wanted to sell the product , but they are methods from the tourist industry. One shouldn't look into the scenery not very far from the camp with overpopulation , bitter poverty , unrest , criminal but superstition ,...and so on.
