Hotel’s in Jberg

My first trip is a month from today, we're staying at Africa Sky just north of JNB based on lots of recommendations from the guys here.

When are you there? I'm staying overnight on August 18th with a group of Aussie hunters.

I’m actually using AHG trophy shipping thru Afton for my hunt I just did with NKWE and Numzaan in June. They picked up my skulls and capes from the RSA hunt and are tanning the capes while we wait for the Botswana dip and pack to be ready for shipment. They are aggregating my trophies from Botswana and RSA into one shipment for me. Will see how their shipping rates compare to past experience and report on AH once I have them home

On our hunt, AHG was BY FAR the most expensive shipping bid of the three we received, just an FYI.

If I suggested a trip through Jo’Burg without a stay at Africa Sky I would have a revolt on my hands!

As to the VIP service, I stood in line once. Every trip since I have paid for the VIP service. On one departure to Zim security was backed up beyond belief. Gilbert took us to a consular line in a different location and we walked right through.
Gilbert is the best!!!

I stayed near the airport and had no issues catching early flights or arranging pickups. The security felt solid, and it made the transition to and from the bush pretty smooth.

On arrival to Jburg we stayed at African Sky and on departure we stayed at the Intercontinental hotel.

Both are great, but I will say that I enjoyed African Sky more; it was nice being around hunters from all over, Ivan Carter and family were having dinner at the table next to us.
That is the nice thing about Africa Sky is that you will always find like minded hunters coming or going from safari. I've never stayed at Afton because Africa Sky was always so very good.

I stayed at orchard road hotel last year during an overnight stop. It’s close to the airport, felt safe, and had decent food if you’re too tired to head out. They also helped arrange transport which made things easier. Not fancy, but clean and comfy enough after a long flight. Staff were friendly too, which always makes a difference.

Make sure the place you choose has a place to safely store and are permitted to store your rifles if you will be staying for a few nights
