Just south of Portland, graduated in 81. Thank you.

Experienced W. U.S.A. rifle big game hunter would be an apt description of me to date. Never hunted Africa and may never make that journey. But one never knows. I enjoy hunting, processing my own game and all that goes with. Spending time passing the traditions & knowledge on to my kids and grandkids is as important to me as anything. I noticed this forum coming up on some searches, read a number of posts, and liked the expertise and lack of drama.

I have managed to accumulate quite a bit of knowledge about hunting Rocky Mt Elk, Mule/Whitetail deer, Pronghorn and to a lesser extent Cougar, Shiras Moose, BH Sheep and Caribou. Most of which will be of little value here outside the occasional how did this bullet perform and tips on hunting out here as the occasion arises. I’ll contribute where I think I can, and mostly learn from the experts here. Thank you.

Welcome aboard TMac. On AH all hunting experiences and expertise are on a par. It is not the game per se but the hunt is what we share in common. African PG and American White Tails, Elk, Moose and Pronghorn behave similarly, and fall to appropriate sized rifles. For most of us, an African PG hunt costs the same as a guided Western hunt, but you are much more likely to bag your quarry. How about sharing some of your hunts' and photos with us? What caliber firearms do you own? Which is your favorite or go to rifle?

Thank you. Not much of a writer about my hunts, do have a few pictures scattered here and there. I may dig a few up if I have time. Much of my hunting is for meat, wild game is our red meat in my house. That said, I’ve managed to take a number of very good Mule Deer (mixed bag of 30”+ and 180+ for the best of them) and several Antelope that grace my wall. Taken a pile or two of elk (most cows for the table)... Have one big Cougar I stopped at about 3 feet, suppose there is a story there.

Most of my rifles are off a 308 case or 30-06 case, including both parents. Only magnums I own are handguns. My go to is generally at 25-06, 270 or 280. When I Moose hunted it was the 30-06 and it was fed 180 TTSX’s. Last few elk fell to the 270 with 130TTSX’s and a 280 with 175 partitions. If I had to pick a fav for what I have hunted to date, it’s one of my 280’s.

Shootist43, a pic of a pic of a mid 180’s mule deer. Man cave currently tore apart, so the mounts are in piles in the garage. Best I can do right now. He’s very tall & narrow, one small eye guard, and a good sized in-line and kicker. What I’d call a 5 x 5.

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
