Hola!

It's been a while since I've been on here (changes in life and whatnot) but I do enjoy the great discussions and sharing hunt info from the time that I was on here last. It was great to meet up with several members and talk up Africa and other hunts (It's good to see Velo Dog still kicking around, he was an amazing host to a get together).

Anyway, headed back to Africa in 2021 with Kuhvima Safaris out of Limpopo SA with my dad this time. Last time was a solo trip to Namibia with Schoenfeld Safaris in 2016 (which they were amazing!!) where I was able to bring home a kudu, oryx, Burchell Zebra and a Hartmann Zebra and do some cull hunting in which I harvested a giraffe.

It's great to be back in the mix with a lot of like minded people interested and passionate about the hunt and the experiences of preparation and getting there as well.

Cheers!
Scott

Welcome back! You are so lucky to get to return to Africa with your dad! Hoping he (and you!) have a grand time!
Please don’t forget to share your adventure with us!

Thank you! It was good to catch up on everyone's experiences and photos.

Yes, it will be great to go to Africa with the CSM (My dad is a retired Army Command Sergeants Major so it's the title I still use... Haha, I know he secretly likes it!). He's 77 and has been to the Congo and a couple of places on the continent (Uncle Sam's expense) during the 60s and 70s but never hunted game there. So this will be an experience of a lifetime for both of us. Though we have both hunted extensively Alaska on self guided/oufitted hunts and fishing expeditions (yes, they turn from trips into expeditions) but to have a fully guided and support hunt, will be different for him.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome back!

@AKSloper71
Glad you are headed back to try it out with family.

Practice for the next write up with the older one! :)

Welcome back to the forum, looking forward to your report!

Giday Scott and welcome (back) to the A H forums where all manner of guns and hunting addictions are catered for.

Welcome back AKsloper71. I am the same age as your dad and have two sons in their 50(s). Want a piece of advice? Listen to what he has to say but don't let "SARGE" boss you around.;);) What will you guys be hunting this trip?

Haha! I need to dust off my diary from the last hunt and do a post. I cannot say enough good things about my guides, trackers and hosts at Schoenfeld.

Uhhh... I am a former Marine so "Sarge" is not in my vocabulary!!

I think I'm going to focus mostly on the plains game that I didn't harvest in Namibia (Duiker, Impala, Springbuck, Steenbuck, Blesbuck, Red Hartebeest, Blue Wildebeest). As for the CSM, he's been traveling/snowbirding, so we haven't had a chance to go over what he wants to hunt. I'm going to put some extra back and may splurge on my ultimate goal of Cape Buffalo. Who knows? It's Africa!

Welcome back to AH, Scott!

Hello again Scott,

Welcome back.
Thanks for the positive vote on that particular man cave party.
Since then, I had wondered if you maybe sailed out past the edge of the map, where it says: “Here there be dragons”.
Anyway, perhaps there will be another party at my wigwam, after the ice has gone but before the mosquitoes return.

Meanwhile, on May 2nd, there is scheduled a “Double Rifle Shoot”.
Contact Cal Pappas for details and RSVP, via the forum PM feature.
Or, PM to me and I will give you his email address.

Cheers,
Paul.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
