Giraffe are delicious and despite recent headlines they are in healthy numbers in hunting areas thanks to us hunters!

I’d love to know more about the management science behind these cull hunts in terms of carrying capacity, etc.

with regard to the "science" behind these kind of cull hunts

we have ecologists come and do a study of the "veld" every couple of years
we also do a game count from a helicopter every 3-4 years
we keep a record of every animal hunted

with this info we have calculated carrying capacity using, browser units and grazer units assigned to various species
then with the carrying capacity you can see if you are heavy on grazers or browsers or both or neither
thus deciding which to take off

zebra are bulk grazers- consume as much grazing as possible, some will be good- this is simplest way to describe it, also they are extremely heavy on the veld in terms of trampling, they have big hooves and hurt the grass when they trample in big herds
giraffe are selective grazers and have very little competition so high up, but they breed very well and have very few predators. they have reached a number where we just cant keep up with their breeding rate

average size giraffe produce nice meat thats for sure, and yes they are in very good numbers accross south africa that i can guarentee!!!

Package Includes:
- 4 zebra (male or female)
- 4 Giraffe (not trophy size, male or female)
- 1 Day outing to Mapungubwe National Park-optional
- All meals and drinks (incl. Local Beer and Wine and spirits)

trophies, horns, skull, skin from cull animals may be taken.
hunt can be done with rifle or bow
