Hello AfricaHunting,

I’ve found myself landing here after so many Google searches and truly enjoying the content I thought I should become a member.

Grew up in New Mexico where 95+ percent of the land is state or fed. Starting shooting with my first .22 when I was 5 or 6, got my first 30.06 and .410 when I was 11. Hunted just about everything, often 10-15 days straight, until I was 24 and moved to Texas. School, family, business etc kept me away from hunting more than a few days a year after that. I’m in Edmond, OK now and semi-retired and gearing up to hunt as much as possible for as long as I can.

My main rifles are a 30.06 Remington 700 BDL I was gifted in 1972, a Mark V 300 Weatherby magnum, and a recently acquired BRNO VZ-24 416 Taylor. I’ll be posting about that accidental acquisition in future posts.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Welcome!

Warning:
This forum is addictive, and here is bad influence!
You may find yourself soon, somewhere in Africa, hunting buffalo or something.
But at least, you are sufficiently equipped! Your rifles cover everything Africa can throw at you!
Enjoy your time here!

Welcome to AH KPinOKC!

Hi Kpin.
Mark is absolutely right. You will have a much more wish to use your 416 after a few days on this forum. I have honestly hope that you spend most of your “semi-retirement” days in hunt.
Welcome

Greetings fellow Oklahoman and welcome to AH! I hope the snowstorm didn’t impact you too bad. We’re an hour south of you. You have excellent rifles and your 416 Taylor is the perfect medicine for buffalo. This is the perfect place to assist you in preparing for your African Safari!

Fortunately we left for Cabo the day before the storm. We’re scheduled to fly back in two days, and I hope the airlines are straightened out by then

I appreciate the welcomes and look forward to some good discussions in the near future.

You’re so right, and it’s already had the effect. The 416 Taylor purchase came after I began lurking here. As I mentioned, the purchase was intentional but not totally as expected, which I’ll explain in a future thread. I need to be careful; the shared passion IS absolutely addictive!

I knew it!
You are cooked! ;)

Good day! Welcome from our side!

Welcome to the site! I’m just about 45 minutes straight north of you, if you ever need a place to test out that .416 I have the spot. Also a modest safari/man cave to hang out in and discuss Africa. Also we have a DSC banquet coming in April at the Skirvin hotel you would enjoy. Cheers!

Definitely thumbs up to everything you mentioned!
