NRA,
I've been searching for a 404 Jeffery for about a year. Went to a lgs last week and they had a new unfired cz 550 from a collection for sale! Put $ down and hope to have it in a month or so..

I really wanted an mrc left handed rifle, but with all the hubub about closing doors I am a bit Leary for now.

Congrats on the new additions and post some pics when it comes in.

What are your plans to kit it out?

Congrats and I second the motion for pics!

Congratulations on the fine new piece. It is wise that you purchased the CZ Model 550 bolt rifle now. I understand that they have just been discontinued. In a year or so , the prices certainly will rise !
While l personally have no experience with the .404 Jeffery calibre , l understand that it is the ballistic twin of the .450 / 400 Nitro Express calibre ( which l AM personally familiar with ) and thus, l wholeheartedly endorse this calibre .

Not certain just yet. Probably a 1-4 scope with detachable mounts. I have that setup on my 375 H&H and it works well for me. However, I'm an iron sight guy and as such am thinking of a peep sight. Inside of a hundred yards I have complete confidence with one.
With a growing family and all that goes with it I'm happy with just having the rifle and an opportunity to go to Africa. Never been yet, but I have a trip in May. I likely will take the 375 as I have seat time with her. I'm bringing my dad, Wife and an older friend. Exited is an understatement!

Major Khan, I really appreciate the kind words especially from a man such as yourself! I also heard they were to be discontinued. Sad. On another note I live vicariously through your stories! If the hunting magazines had you're caliber of writers and sensibilities I'd buy them all! Reading your stories takes me back to being a child and dreaming of the possibilities in the world of hunting. African Hunting Gazette needs to her from you! I salute you!

Ah, the man we all envy, about to take your first trip to Africa! Prepare for your addiction. There is no cure!

I all seriousness, I wish you a great trip. Enjoy the preparation, the anticipation is much of the fun!

Oh, and congrats on a fine purchase!

Funny thing, I've envied all who went before me!

Congratulations on your CZ550.404j, I am sure you will never regret it! May I ask is it one of the the few CZ550s that came from the factory or was it from the custom shop? Either way your going to have a rifle, in a caliber that is hard to beat. Like Major Kahn I very much like the .450/400 with its .411 bullet, but the .404j with another 100fps plus a .422 Woodleight Hydro Shock brings the caliber up another notch!

Congrats on finding one

I will be frank and say that I don't know.. It looks like a factory rifle with no bells and whistles that I saw, is there a way I could know by looking at it? Or do I need to do a serial number check?

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is 239 565-8988. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
