As a matter of fact, I am working on some ivory bases right now that I will post with the ivory on them as soon as I finish them. I build everything custom so I can do them out of wood, metal, whatever someone wants.

Thanks. I’d love pics of them as being built. From a distance they often just look like a simple stand but I know more goes into fitting and balancing the ivory. I’d love to see how that’s done.

I will try and put a post up on it in the future. Right now I don’t have time. I’m working on these, a life size zebra in a custom pose, running two business, and dealing with a family medical issue so I’ve got a lot on my plate. Unfortunately, that’s why I’ve been pretty radio silent lately. I’ve got a lot on my plate at the moment.

Wife and I made the 12hr run down to Coppersmiths in Chicago to grab the crate containing our Zim ele products. Not a fun drive but once that crate gets opened its all worth it.
In the crate was-
Capped ivory
Capped cast replicas
The molds used from the ivory
2 foot stools
Ear painting
Ear leather
Sorry for the poor pictures, bit wore out to retake once I seen how bad they turned out.

very tastefully prepared trophies. Congratulations to you on the hunt but also successfully navigating the importation process. Where did you take the elephant? the girth on those tusks looks massive. The ear leather looks as soft as chamois -nice touch! I have heard that a panel of belly skin also tans out very well. Is that something you looked at? I only ask because my first elephant hunt is scheduled for Sept . kind regards

I have the option of displaying the replicas at the cabin if we decide to do so. If not, they will fit in perfectly in the main office.

greetings all- some use the replica tusks on wall display or when shown in spot can not be handled, the originals can then be used for pedestal or kept in skull if on floor ......nothing looks and feels like tusker ivory when examined up close

Appreciate the comments gentlemen.
Now that I've had some time to grab a bite to eat I can add the details.
Trophy was from October of '24 hunting with Rouan @TSALA HUNTING SAFARIS.
Weights came in at 49 & 54 respectfully.
The footstools were my wife's idea for her office. Glad we did them as they came out great in my opinion.
Used Collett's for the taxidermy and shipping from Zim. Mixed feelings about the shipping side of their house.
Conservation Force got the permit approved in less then a week if I remember correctly. They are well worth the cost associated.
Coppersmith handled the importation and as always did a wonderful job.
Have used another importer in the past and will be going back and sticking with Coppersmith from here on out.

As long as its exportable, the animal is yours to export out as much as you want. Can get rather costly with sending all the panels ect ect out from a big bull but again you certainly can do it.

Curious on your crate dimensions and shipping costs. Did Collett’s exporter ship from Zim to RSA then to the states?
