Last Monday (April 1st 2019) an 18 year old man was tragically killed in Sydney in construction site accident during scaffolding collapse.

Please note that the accident was not in any way firearm related, but it shows a disturbing trend. A number of publications felt compelled to use the photograph of the deceased man with guns in the background for their article. Why that particular picture in an article about young person’s death? Do they really need to use every human tragedy to push on their agenda? I list some links below. There were others but some have since altered the photos on their websites. The first linked site belongs to The Australian Broadcasting Corporation - Australia's national broadcaster, not some unimportant online blog. They had actually used that photograph on their main page about the accident but have since changed it for a family photo.

Journalism has lost its way.

Disgusting, to put it mildly

The media is absolute trash the world over.

News reporting is now a lost art.
The media is now a platform for bias, twisted truths bent towards the naive generation that is coming through who can only react blindly to what they get fed through their phones and the internet.

I pity the society of the future.
They will all be controlled and incapable of rational thought.
Stories are written now with the agenda of controversy and designed to create bad feeling.
It's disgusting.
They have subtly twisted this story from feeling sorry for the deceased and his family to 'who cares, he shouldn't have guns'.

I wonder if I die prematurely how my death will be reported?
I have one of the largest collections of Iron Crosses in the UK from 1813 to the 1957 versions and I have guns including an AR.

No doubt I will be a gun toting, animal murdering Nazi.

ill know better,as will the rest of the real people in the hunting and gun world, not the walking, talking DEAD.

I don't really take offence with the coverage I read. A hard working likeable young man dies tragically. A person with a passion for life, who includes as one of his passions shooting. It could have been a skiing photo, or fishing or whatever, it just says something about him.
As far as gun ownership is concerned, I do not see this coverage as negative. He was a vibrant contributing member of society, deserving of our respect.

It was a deliberate grab at ratings, they where using a double headline for Christchurch, gang violence shooting and the scaffolding collapse.
All Media in oz are on the guns are evil crusade again at the moment.

The lamescream media at it's worst. Divide and conquer by using all kinds of dissension and lies. I rate journalists and politicians at about 1% credibility and honesty.

That's quite charitable of you.

Whatever politicians and journalists say, I assume they're either projecting or outright lying.

Much about media in this world just makes me sad. They have indeed lost their way....no journalism anymore.
All of us can respect the young man and his memory despite the attempt of others to lessen his passing.

Their attempt is to lessen the value of his life by associating him with shooting sports. A tragic loss of a young life: The written article should acknowledge the loss and pay respect.....not use for another purpose...............FWB

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
