Greetings to everyone, and thanks for having me onboard!

My name is Andrew and I'm based in Joburg these days. I grew up in Zululand, hence part of the handle, and my wanderings/career took me to the UK for 13 years (where the other part of my handle came from - homesickness). Anyway, I've been back in my homeland for coming up on 3 years and making up for lost time on the hunting front.

My hunting experience ranges from the semi-tropical bush of Zululand through to the open grasslands of the Drakensberg and the 'vlaktes' of the Northern Cape and many areas in between. I have also ventured outside of RSA"s borders with gun in hand but cannot claim any vast experience in those countries.

I am also a keen wingshooter having shot lots of waterfowl as a youngster over Zululand's waterways, chasing guineafowl and francolin in the Natal Midlands and shooting rock pigeons over sunflower in the Free State.

I'm a big fan of the outdoors in general, be it off-roading in the bundu, saltwater flyfishing or simply camping off the beaten track.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the hunting tales on the site (I've been a silent lurker for a while) and hope to contribute some of my own and add any local knowledge where I can.

Cheers!

Glad you enjoyed the area, Phil! I have done the majority of my game hunting in that area and know it extremely well. I'm guessing you were after Common Reedbuck amongst others?

That was the first animal taken followed by Vaal Rhebok and Bushbuck. I sure wish I'd had chance to get a taste of the Reedbuck, guessing they're tasty with all of that corn and veggies they live on. I also got a chance to catch a nice rainbow trout, on a fly of course.

Welcome to AH Andrew! Enjoy the site.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
